What files to save?

Post by grahamrfd »

Ive just laid the start of a new track and this time am completing 1 tile at a time. When backing up what files actually need to be saved because some files surely remain unchanged eg Ref file & shape file etc. Also could someone tell me how often do I have to rebuild track db or is this just for when things go wrong which it will surely do. Maybe one day I will have a track for the southern stuff. All I need then is some UKF pallet vans and big bogie Cargowaggons.I have pics and drawings of cargowaggons if anyone wants to try building one

Right.

The files to back-up :-

In route folder

leave the .ref , .dat , .ace , .haz .

backup :-

Tiles / World / TD - when you have changed something.

the activities, paths, services, traffic want backing up only when you have made an activity.

the Terrtex when you insert a "NEW" terrain texture. same for shapes and textures.

basically that's it.

Thanks Alan. The last problem I had regarding the route freezing was connected some way to the activity I had installed as the train was freezing at the point where the train path ended.I was however running it in explore mode so this shouldn't have had any effect. It has however made me doubtfull about running anything on this next track till its finished.Anyway thanks again.

When I lay a stretch of track, I test it all with a single train, Create a path only, no activity. Just build the path and save it then don't add any traffic etc. and exit without saving. Voila a path with no activity.

Good luck with your route.
