Electrified and Non Electried Route

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Electrified and Non Electried Route

Post by ForburyLion »

I was wondering whether it would be possible to create a route, Electrify it with invisible overhead wires and then add overhead wires and supports to certain sections of the track as scenery items, Thereby creating the illusion of a part electrified and part non electrified route... Obviously Electric loco's could drive on the non electrified sections but would not be assigned to those routes.

Has anybody tried anything like this?

Yes, all you have to do is set the wire height to 1000 metres in the route editor, and the wires are so high in the sky you don't see them! You can then add gantries on part of the route to create the effect you require.

Use the supplied gantry file, copy and place into the route folder, then use the auto place function with the RE - you will get a pull down menu.
