Dummy Signal Patch

Hello !! I installed a number of new semaphore signals on to my route a few weeks ago and all is satisfactory and the signals all work OK. I had not previously changed a sigcfg or the sigscr before but all was OK.

I then had problems with the distant signals and deceided to install the dummy signal file. This task is now in a mess as somehow Iam going wrong. After numerous failures to resolve the problem, I would ask :robot: some advice.

I have made the alterations to the sigcfg and sigscr as specified but when I come to load my route a message is displayed showing a fault on a line that is 4 lines beyond the end of the Sigcfg file. I have double checked and still cannot see the fault

Any ideas??

Thanks
Kevin

First of all I hope you backed up your originals?
Sig scripts need to be done by adding the additional files into each section seperately and each section needs to have the number of additions aded to the command count for each section.

First off check that the number of commands equals the figure at the top of each section.
If that checks out OK then check for the either lack of a closing bracket, or
too many.
Maybe an opening bracket has been accidently deleted in the editing process.
Or a rare one that I have come across is that something has been pasted in the front of the header.

If all these checkout by this stage it would have been quicker to redo it step by step, checking for errors at each stage which is heaps easier to find an error in a whole script, so if you have backups restore the old files first and then see what happens.
Then re add into the scripts being carefull to add correctly the files being added after first deleting the bracket previously closing the section.

This might be your problem as well.
Context unicode editor plus Yuri's fantastic MSTS Highliters also make checking for bracket errors easy as well by checking each opening bracket with the corresponding closing bracket with a yellow highlight.

Wish you luck there.
Been there done there.
Cheers
Ian
