Atomic Systems

If, like me, you tend to only use the main line services into and out of Waterloo, do you ever gaze at the vast array of blue departure screens and wonder about exotic destinations such as Shepperton (via Kingston), Strawberry Hill (via Twickenham) or Addlestone? I do, so last time I was up in London I decided that I was going to do a bit more to Dorset Coast.

Here is a map showing the extent of the additions to Version 4 so far.

Here is a shot of a Class 450 leaving the home of HRH, well one of them anyway!

This extension is designed to work as an upgrade to version 3, either the CD or downloadable version. Also all of the activities that are included on the version 3 CD will work with this upgrade. I would expect to be able to release this around about Christmas time, but it may be early in the new year depending on other committments.

I will keep you updated with progress over the next few months.

Amazing work Dave, you have added an impressive amount to the current Dorset Route. I'm look forward as this route progresses. When the 458 is released i'll be enjoying thrashing that up to Reading.

oh good god! This v4 looks like it will be stunning. hope it runs correctly though. it would most likely be a large file. VERY large

Good luck with it! All we need now is a 444 and a 458 for it, and then we have one of the best routes ever made for MSTS.

A few days ago I purchased your Dorset Coast V3 from UKTrainsim and I must congratulate you on an excellent and first class route. However, and this is my own personal opinion and in no way am I criticising you in a nasty way, but for my liking, there are too many activities and paths.

This route is the creme de la creme for steam nut's, like myself and modern electric and the like, is not really my pet subject. I was brough up in the steam era of the fifties, believe it or not oop' North, in L.M.S. territory. But, I just love the Bulleid Pacific's and the Dorset Coast Route is the perfect route for running them on.

So after looking at the route and all the stock, I decided to just load the route, emty the Activity, Services and Traffic Folders and delete any paths that I would not really need. This has made a vast difference to the load time and has enabled me to do my own Activities using steam traffic, for which I enjoy running.

I have four quite large Trainset & Consist Folder's of the Big Four, LMS, GW, LNER & Southern and another set I have a mixture of all, with mainly BR stuff. This allows me to select any region to suit the route I wish to run on.

Anyway Dave, thank you for a great route for the Southern Region, it's a credit to you and I hope to get many hours of pleasure making up trains with lot's of AI traffic, in the Activity Editor.

Just completed a run from Weymouth to Waterloo, non stop with BB Class Tangemere and 10 Bats Pullman Coaches in 1 hour 47 minutes, averaging 72 mph. I even went through the long curving section at Poole, doing 90, I wasn't expecting such a sharpe curve, no wonder the speed limit was 20.
Good luck with Version 4 Patch, I will be looking out for this when it's released

I know it is Matt and I already have it, but got in a mess with it a few times, so I do it the old way by renaming my folders for Routes Trainsets and Consists. Works for me anyway,

Blimey What spec of PC will we need ???

Anything that runs v3 currently should run v4 ok.

In terms of the overall track database size, Thames-Mersey is 3 times as large as Dorset Coast V3 and it runs fine, with the expected pinch points in complicated areas like Crewe and Euston.

With DC obviously the worst is behind us now with Waterloo-Clapham Junction done, the rest will be no where near as complicated.

Sure those that are already struggling with V3 on their computers are going to have a problem with V4, but for those of us that are running DC3 OK I don't think there will be any problem.
