I found a quick way of laying track on steep terrain is to lay the first section on the slope in question then hit 'n'. Track adjusts to slope.

Then build out from there.

Thank you, kind sir, for the advice. As I've said in other threads, I've learnt to use the RE by trial and error, and by searching this and our Cousins' advice fora across the Pond and Down Under; but there's always one more wrinkle.
