Try turning down your sound settings - there are some large custom sounds at Waterloo/CJ which are causing some problems.

Hi, I've just downloaded and installed all the updates and the patch for this route, but whenever I try to load it, it has trouble with some files, one of which reads

"Shape failed to load. Embank2w167lx.s"

and another reads

"Failed to open texture file
routes\Dorset\Textures\OEDirt.ace"

And after many clicks of "Continue" the route loads up but its noted that things like the embankment are missing, before finally the sim crashes.

Any ideas as to the problem?

Hi there jayjay67 (presume your name is jay?)

You need to turn your settings down. On this topic it may be helpful if you download and lok at the Dorset Coast Support Pack.
[UKTSID: 14193]

has many solutions for problems in there.

btw...where abouts were you having the trouble?

Good Evening,

I have been away from MSTS for a while and after returning am completely amazed by the amount and quality of first class downloads.

Amongst many I downloaded Dorset Coast starting with v1, v2 and finally v3 including all patches and also making sure after each version was installed that I also ran the install.bat.

I made sure that Train Store had everything 'Unstored' prior to installing Dorset Coast to make sure that I had all angles covered.

Just before I tested the route I ran a confidence :-? check with the excellent Route-Riter. It told me I had practically all of the Dynatrax files missing, yet when I check the Shapes folder of the Dorset Coast route folder they are there (.s and .sd files).

I also have UK Finescale installed (v3.1.6), in order to "test" the route I downloaded a simple activity (UKTS 12741 Weymouth-Manchester). I have all the required stock installed correctly, as confirmed with RR.

However when I use Train Store to start MSTS with the chosen activity MSTS crashes prior to loading the route.

I am now confused! :(

Could some of the Subject Matter Experts please steer me in the right direction. I promise to be humble for the rest of my life, I just wanna enjoy another one of Dave's Masterpieces!!!!!!!

Best Regards,

Paul

Hmm,

After removing the above activity and replacing it with UKTS 12707 (Brockenhurst-Wareham Stopper) the route loads ok and runs ok.

I can only assume then that it is a problem with the Weymouth-Manchester activity.

Does anyone know which activities do not work with v3? Of course I suppose I could be patient and wait for the CD, it just seems a shame that I can't enjoy all that hard work downloading, backing up, installing, pulling hair etc. :x

Regards for now.

Paul.

Hi,

Further to my email above regarding UKTS 12741 Weymouth-Manchester activity, after opening the activity in AE I got a 'setup after load failed' message and after investigating noticed there was a broken path on one of the traffic paths (the HST shunt at Bournemouth).

I have fixed the broken path and all appears well (going to test it now), I'm not sure if allypally is aware of this problem with v3.

Regards,

Paul.

Paul,

I did attempt to fix all the broken paths in the V3 download for activities that were created for earlier versions, but if you install an earlier activity after installing the V3 upgrade, it will overwrite the fixed path with the broken one.

Dave,

Thanks for that, I think I'll install the activities that I have downloaded and then overwrite the paths that you have corrected where necessary from the v3 version.

Congratulations on an excellent piece of freeware and keep up the sterling work.

When I started using other railway simulators about 4 years ago I would never have dreamed that routes and stock would become this realistic, all those involved in their creation, no matter how small, deserves credit, lots of it.

Hi all, so would i be right in thinking that you can upgrade from a V2 CD installation to V3 using the downloaded files as long as you install all the patches?

Tim, yes that is correct. You do not require the V2 patch as long as you install the two V3 patches.

Problem with route between Hook and Basingstoke

Post by JohnWFavis »

I've upgraded from V2 cd and with settings turned down tried running the activity 'A long day part 1 ' . It ran okay until about four miles from Basingstoke when MSTS hung up. Tried running from Hook to Basingstoke in explore mode - same problem. Also tried running in explore mode from Basingstoke towards London but it locks up a few miles outside Basingstoke again. It seems I have a problem where V2 patched to V2cd. I installed all patches and upgraded finescale and new tsection dat. Note some users have experienced white outs but my problem is just locking up. Any ideas or should I wait for V3 cd? -John.

John, have you installed the V3 patch files 3.1 and 3.2?

Dave, I must have overlooked patch 3.1. I did install 3.2 but have now added 3.1 and everything seems okay. Thanks for your help, John.
