Replacing Track Textures within Routes?

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Replacing Track Textures within Routes?

Post by bigdaveadams1 »

Is it possible to replace default MSTS textures with either UKFS or Xtracks? I have the lovely Ligne du Morvan but the default track textures are just too bad.

Both UKFS and Xtracks are separate track systems to the default MSTS one, so the textures are not compatable, unless you want to relay all of the track on the route. There are replacement textures in the UKTrainSim file library though. Scottrax is especially good when used with the smoother track (both on UKTrainSim).

Hope that helps,
Matt

Hi there,

Which version of Morvan have you got?. The version I downloaded from Funtrain (version 3) has extra track textures as part of the download pack and they are a big improvement on basic xtracks

All track textures in your route are found in your Route's Textures folder and the Textures\Snow folder.

The files are named acleantrack1.ace and acleantrack2.ace so just changing these two files in the two folders will change your track textures throughout your route.

Many routes you download which use either the Default track or x-tracks include custom versions of these two files, so all you need to do is to copy the files from a route you like.

Otto Wipfel (OTTODAD) has some nice track textures for downoad from his site, together with a little utility for changing them around.

You can't change the actual trackwork, but you can change the textures (appearance) of the track, if that's what you mean.
