Recently I tried to add a 3 aspect signal to the default S&C route, but it only comes up as a scenery object instead of having that purple box on the track.
Do I have to change the sigcfg file or the ref file, or something else?

Re: Adding different signals to routes
Signals are not added to a route via the route.ref file but via the sigcfg.dat file, unless of course you want them to be static scenery.WSR2005 wrote:Recently I tried to add a 3 aspect signal to the default S&C route, but it only comes up as a scenery object instead of having that purple box on the track.

If the 3-aspect signal comes from a signal kit you must copy and paste the relevant Type and Shape descriptions to the sigcfg.dat file and also the relevant scripting to the sigscr.dat file. If you are copying a signal from one route to another you use the same procedures.
Whatever you do, make sure that the number of SignalTypes and SignalShapes at the head of their respective sections in the sigcfg.dat are changed, and that you have the correct number of "right brackets" closing the new entries, if you don't neither Route Editor nor MSTS will load and a line error message box will appear.
