I have closed all the background programmes and attempted to run it - still crashes in exactly the same place.
I can drive past the "bermuda triangle" area on the other track and its fine - just that strange place where MSTS insists upon crashing.

A couple other things to check:
1-Check for newer drivers for your video card.
2-Go into the Route Editor and double check you don't have any "Blue poles" in your route.
3-You mentioned the triangle; MSTS has problems with triangles; this may be part of the problem.
There's just so many things it could be but I would go into the editor and see exactly what the route looks like at the point it keeps shutting down. Sorry I can't be more help...

Have you tried re building the tdb?
(Only attempt this if you haven't placed any track interactives or signals)

Thanks for the suggestions! It seems to be fine driving accross it in the other direction and even back over the same place in the direction it crashes - just not when I set off over it.
Also, is there an easy way to programme elevation (I have the details on maps) rather than relying on the red boxes?

I would Suggest Useing DEM!Also, is there an easy way to programme elevation (I have the details on maps) rather than relying on the red boxes?
This is very good programme which automatically makes contours for your route, and it is accurate too!
It can be downloaded for a site (i cant really remember!) and installs the terrain straight into train sim! It is incredibly easy! This only usually works if you have put the route exacly where it is supposed to be (useing Longditude and Latititude)
Sorry if i have wabbitted on a bit!
