TSTools II and DEMEX

Post by ImCanadian »

Can someone tell me what is the difference between TsTools II and DEMEX?? Because I have seen in this forum message that several members got the program of TsTools II for Route Building. I am not sure if anyone in the UK got the program of DEMEX for Route Building?? Anyway I just want to know what is the difference between those two programs for Route Building??

DEMEX is used for importing DEM data as route terrain ONLY.

...but it is bl**dy good at it.

And TSTools is a program where you plot contours from a background map such as Ordnance Survey, in the UK, to obtain the terrain.

The reason for TSTools this side of the pond was that, two or three years ago, Demex-style data for N Europe was low resolution, wheras that for North America was high resolution.

Demex is quite simple to use once you have downloaded the terrain data.

Refer to the sticky at the top of this page for a good starting point. Demex now handles the hgt files from nasa without the need for additional programmes.

Basically its a doddle once youve got the hang of it.
