Re: Marker files

Post by metroshed »

Hi,
I'm no proffesional route builder, but have noticed the odd thing or two. Never had many problems with Marker Files, actually - have found them very helpful (especially in bulk - when route aligning). One thing I did notice is that there was a gap after the marker file line opening entry:

Yours was similar to -

SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0I0t______

Marker ( -4.1459 50.5517 "Tavistock North" 2 )

Don't really know if it makes that much difference, but all my MKRs read for example:

SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0I0t______
Marker ( -4.1459 50.5517 "Tavistock North" 2 )

I don't think MSTS doesn't like spaces!! Have only ever used "2" markers (flags) in the past

Hope this may help.

Regards
Martin (Metroshed)

Hi Martin,

Thats what eventually sorted it :). I figured the same thing :).

Can't wait for your version of the LSWR from Plymouth, what era is it based in?

To start with 1967/68.

Therefore I have ommitted (half of) the PDSWJ line - though will be Plymouth to Exeter (and beyond.... eventually!)
Initially it will be Plymouth - Keyham - Victoria Road - Tavistock - Okehampton - Exeter - Exmouth (plus the Gunnislake branch)
I hope to seriously embellish the line as time (and patience) persist. This I hope will see fruition in the summer. I will try and leave "screen shots" as and when.

Kind Regards

Chris - I've only just loked at this thread;

Your mistake was simple, I think - you cannot have spaces in the marker names. Quotes are unnecessary if you follow that convention, and just one space in one entry invalidates the whole file - it took me ages to figure that one out.

For reference, the ( 2 ) marker is the most useful as it doesn't have that half-acre base to obscure everything....
