is there anyone out there that is building the titfield-mallingford route used i the film the titfield thunderbolt

I was considering building this route after the one I'm building now, but I'm a long way from finishing.
The actual route it was filmed on was the camerton branch line, the opening scene of the film is midford and passes under the S&DJR viaduct.
This would be a good first route choice as it's only 11 miles long and mostly single track. A good book of this line is FROME TO BRISTOL published by middleton press. It has detailed track plans and the gradient profiles.
Why not have a go?
I've not seen any evidence anyone else is building the route, I'd love to see it though.

This is really strange. I have just started on a fictional version. Designed to look like the locations but not be an exact copy of the original route. More like the fictional film branch. I have laid track from titfield to the water tower and hope to have the rest done by tomorrow.

Is there much interest in this?

Andy - there is a book by Simon Castens called "On The Trail of The Titfield Thunderbolt" that shows how they used the Camerton branch for the filming. It also includes a great deal other other information about the film (from a railway perspective).

There are also diagrams showing the locations of the certain film featureson the branch

I have heard of the book but to be honest im not to woried about accuracy. It was supposed to be a fictional branch so im going to make it like that but with the locations reasonably similar. I would like a quick build. Im on half term so have a fair bit of free time. I am going to use mostly avaliable buildings, however there are two that I will need to make... (I cant actually do that). They are the station at Titfield and the make shift shed.

Jesus Andy, that brilliant stuff, how do you manage that so fast

I dont know really. It just seemed to happen today. Onlay a little bit of scenery is done and I am still unhappy with the track at the terminus.

Rember this is fictional and only represents the film. It is actually really hard to try and convey that film sense if you get what I mean?

Anyway time from some imput from you...what should be included in the route. In the film a road followed the railway and there were loads of bridges and crossings. The water tower was another feature with the stream and farm. What else would you like to see included.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a station building thats avaliabe. I have no modeling skills (trust me I tried) and really dont have the time on top of compiling the route. I may attempt the barn/loco shed.

Cheers Jonathon. I have all of the Highworth buildings all are most usefull. The only building I am really stuck on is the station building and loco shed.

I can take some images from the film for you when I get home tonight. Im off to london to search for a trumpet mouthpiece. The shed was the simplest of structures and the station can sort of be seen in the pics above.
