I could knock this route together in a couple of days with adequate track plans and images, because I need something to do before we get more information on the Caldervale line. I remember watching TTTE when I was a kid and it was and still is a fantastic show. The actual railway line on the Island of Sodor is a very realistic and typical British railway line, that you could actually run Black 5s and 8Fs on etc. I would be happy to knock it together. Remember, as soon as Caldervale info starts to be collected, work won't be as fast so I'll try to get it done fast.

Hiya. It's been tried many times before. I'm holding my breath.
I wonder if it would be best to think small and simple, rather then a 100 mile route, something that could be played with and transversed in less then 30 mins. But still with the feel and flavor of Thomas.
I wish you well. The grandchildren are waiting. CU Eric

If by maps, then yes there are.daandmda wrote:Are there any actual track plans or anything?
Over the years, there's been a number of maps produced of Sodor's layout and terrain. Martin Clutterbuck's website ( See this page!) has a very nice section on the maps of Sodor.
As for trying to whittle it down into more manageable sized routes, that is completely plausible and possible.
There are 10 major sections of the Island of Sodor railway system:
-- Sodor mainline (Vicarstown to Tidmouth)
-- Ffarquhar Branch ("Thomas's Branchline")
-- "Edward's Branchline" (Includes spur from Wellsworth to Brendam harbor)
-- China Clay Railway (where Bill and Ben work, connected to Edward's Branchline at Brendam)
-- Skarloey Railway (Narrow guage, meets up with standard gauge mainline at Croven's Gate)
-- Culdee Fell Railway (the mountain railway)
-- Electric branchline (I don't know if it has an actual name, but this is an electrified branchline which connects to both Culdee Fell and Sodor Mainline)
-- "Little 'Western" Branchline (Duck & Oliver's branchline, from either Tidmouth/Knapford to Arlesburgh)
-- Arlesdale Railway (miniature railway which runs over some of the former Midsodor Rly trackbeds, meets up with "Little 'Western" branchline at Arlesburgh)
-- Midsodor Railway (A narrow guage line pulled up long ago, Arlesdale Rly runs over some of its old trackbeds, Duke + Falcon + Stuart worked on this line before it closed)
At the moment, with the available rolling stock we could use for MSTS, the Mainline, Ffarquhar Branchline, Edward's Branchline, Little 'Western, Skarloey Rly, and Midsodor Rly are possible candidates for construction. In other words, if someone were to make the other lines there'd be major rollingstock missing (unless someone planned to make them).
(My appologies for the thread bump)

Hi All, This is a waste of time. Go into Woolworths, Look for a display called childrens PC games and on that there are at least 6 PC Thomas the Tank Engine Games. These are Offical games ,so I would imagine that any attempt to produce a Game without permission in not going to go down very well

Hi. David, No the word is Copyright. That company is making a game which they will have paid the Copyright owners, HIT entertainment a lot of money for permission to use. They won't be happy and the copyright owners won't be happy and if someone trys to make a game that remotely resembles Thomas the Tank Engine in any way,Well No7 (Duck)

More likely they'll treat it in a similar way they and most other companies treat every other free, non-profit modification that is released online for this and other games, including ones featuring names/places/characters from other highly well known licenses - they'll ignore it as long as nobody is making a profit from it.
