The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Probably about the same time as my Scottish Borders/Tweed Valley route. I started it the week after MSTS came out, got fed up, scrapped it, built the Blue-Mountains route, got the UK DEM data so started it again.

Asking when a route will be finished is like asking "how long is a piece of string".

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).

My YCR is so very nearly releasable now but if released before time will only draw critiscm, no matter how much effort has been put into it.

A route with just trackwork will get the cry, "Couldn't you add some scenery."

A sceneried route will get, "A few realistic buildings rather than default items would be nice!"

Then a route with all those things will draw comments about sound regions and sources, environments, signalling and even factors such as crossovers that lead to crashes! I know I've been through all these!

At some stage one says enough is enough and the route is 'let go' but even then it is unlikely that all that was intended has been done.

Good routes just can't be rushed out in a few months and can only benefit by the time taken to produce them where all the i's have been dotted and all the t's crossed.

Surely if the difference is a simple track on a green baise compared to a realistic complex accurate layout, I know which I'd prefer!

Hi John
Nothing wrong with releasing version1 etc
I'm really really looking forwards to your route...but I dont think anyone will expect it to be perfect straight off....I dont think theres been a route yet.
Obviously it has to be stable etc...but I think nearly every route known has had at least 1 or more patches.

I expect it to be, well maybe not perfect, but as good as possible!

I want the first version to be in the state that any subsequent versions are purely additional to the first and not fixes. Testing has found several problems that I wasn't aware of as problems, like not being able to put a signal anywhere on a point track section; so that problem can be remedied (though hard to identify in retrospect.) Then there is the problem where objects which were used in good faith had 'permisssion denied.' (Not red signals!)

Then there are other problems like AI train crashes using crossovers/slips which would appear to be MSTS deficiencies so these have to be lived with, or rely on others to solve in due course

The latest YCR update is due for testing andactivity creation/recreation this week so hopefully we can go with this one and get the route out very soon now.

Sorry i must have missed this when away sometime :P

The truth is now that the route will exist, but with many other branches and it may become a commercial product

But the extent of this is not going to be confirmed until i have talked to others on this. We have thought up many lines which could be added to the A-G to make a super route.

Hopefully decisions will be made as soon as possible so more can be said and things can get underway

but as i said things are at the moment, nothing is confirmed.

As for Jon's route you would have to ask Jon 8)
