East Suffolk Railway

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Ian,

No, I don't think so. If you didn't put a topic in the email I may have deleted it as spam by accident

Perhaps send me a straight email first so that it will pass my spam filter, once you're through there you should be able to follow it up with an email with attachments.

I'm looking forward to this!

Jur,

Could you email me your email address as the one I have from when you requested to use signals, a couple of months ago, is bouncing.

Re last Saturday's conversation at PD, I have info on ground signals.

That could be done with standard MSTS track if you're prepared (after all other editing finished) to go into the World file and edit the relevant TrackObj entry to point to an alternate object.

...hmmmh, now there's an idea...

A quick update on progress:

Track laying is essentially complete between Woodbridge and Beccles, I'm working outwards from there to both ends. The Framlingham branch track is also finished. No scenery yet, and the terrtex is still being worked on.

The route map so far:

It takes me about an hour to drive from one end of the route to the other, and there is still more to come!

I'll be travelling over the next few weeks, so route building will be temporarily halted (can't do it on a laptop!). But the good news is that I may find a bit of time to work on some of the outstanding engines and rolling stock (J15 etc.)

Those are cracking track layouts, great potential for lots of nice shunty type goings-on!

Just a thought, Jur...
are you also including the Woodbridge Tramway? I'm not sure exactly where it went, but I have an October 1956 photo of its two 1-horsepower tractive units which apparently worked the line 'as far as Melton' until closure, obviously later than the photo :)

Jur,

Nice to see your putting some more of East Anglia on the map... one thing I was wondering though, will you be including the Southwold Railway, as this is something I have always wished to see represented in MSTS especially the interchange at Halesworth. I believe someone started making some models for the station there.....?

Tis looking good, and youve overtaken me again on the route building! Im STILL stuck in Snowdonia. :D

Have fun....

The tracks in the foreground of the Woodbridge picture are indeed leading directly into the tramway. It runs parallel to the main route for some distance in the direction of Melton. There are a number of short sidings coming off it, I have build just a few of those, not all, object density is becoming a bit of an issue on that particular tile.

Someone would need to build the 1HP engine - it is probably beyond my skills (although it would earn me tremendous respect from my horse-mad daughters!). I've seen a donkey on trainsim.com but that would be an insult to the noble Suffolk Punches, and besides, it has a Mexican bloke sitting on it!

Are you going to take it to Ipswich?

I have to say that, despite being a southern man, this particular line is a special place for me, as my first ever train ride (that I can remember) was from Westerfield to Ipswich. Having travelled it in recent years, and looking at those screenshots, it is quite distressing the level to which it has declined...

Yes, the plan is to take it to Ipswich station, with the tunnel being the end point (so no locomotive depot).

The only snag is that I don't have any decent plans of the station, apart from some simple sketches and my memory. If anyone could point me to some documentation that would be helpful.
