Colne Blackpool.

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

No, quite the contrary, Alan.... no one 'owns' a route, and if you want to build it, then please go ahead with my blessing. I've hung up my virtual theodolite (for the time being  ) and spending my MSTS time on writing a few activities, so there would be nowt additional from me on the route building front in the short to medium term.
Cheers,

Hi boeing126!
I'm just in the VERY early stages of building Skipton-Colne! If all goes as well as I hope, I intend to continue on Westwards to Blackburn (my home town). This is definitely not "vapourware", but will be a long, long time before it's going to be shown to anyone (except a selected few people who have provided me with valuable route info!)
Good Luck if you go ahead with Blackpool-Colne. It WAS a very interesting line in Steam days.

Well Dave once you have cracked the first one the others should be a doddle.Tell you what though Rose grove shunting yard might be a bit of a challenge laying the track.

I tell ya what! I'm having enough trouble laying out Colne, with all its sidings 'n coal yard 'n shed 'n turntable etc! To save myself a load of grief and frustration, I've decided to start laying track from Foulridge, working in both directions. At least I can save the "track-intensive" bits at Skipton and colne till towards the end.
Hopefully I will have got to grips with UKFS by the time I'm ready to extend Southwards!!! (I'm secretly looking forward to seeing RoseGrove and Lower Darwen MPD's, as my youth was spent there!)

Cheers

Wish you every success with this route, Dave, as it was my home line in the 1950's and 1960's (Colne lad then). Colne would indeed be a tough place to start, what with the extensive Colne North yard and Colne South carriage maintenance sheds and sidings back then.

Do you have the Foxline Publications 'Railways of Colne' book? It's chock full of great pics, track diagrams etc If you can't get it, I could loan you my copy. I also have a book 'Railways of Craven' by Donald Binns that has a couple of excellent photos of Earby Station and the Barnoldswick ( "Barlick") Branch, which I presume you'd be including.

All the best with the route.

Cliff
Reawakening memories of train-spotting in the late 1950's and 1960's : Colne, Skipton, Hest Bank, Preston (Farington), Hellifield, Pilmoor, York South, Dawlish and Swansea. Great times!

Thanks Cliff and Simon!!
I've already got several books on the area, and am eagerly awaiting "Railways of Colne" arriving in the post! (decided to lash out a few bob!). I think I'm pretty well stocked with trackplans now for the entire length from Skipton to Colne, including the Barlick branch
The only think I'm missing really now is a set of Gradient Plans. The line was actually fairly level with no major inclines (max about 1:141), but that info would really help.
I'm planning on getting all the terrain and track sorted out (got most of the trackBED in place, with just a few tweaks here and there), before I even think about all the structures. I'll probably look through everything already available to see if I can utilise existing models, but there are bound to be some "custom" jobs needed! Never having (yet!) created any new models for TS, it's going to be a challenge, but I AM prepared to give it a try before screaming "Help"!
Irregular updates may be posted, but don't expect anything really worthwhile looking at for a LONG time! I do have a "real world" life, and this is not going to take over my life! (He says, looking at a desk full of trackplans, maps and photos of Sk-C!!!!) :o

cheers guys,

Dave H.
