Has anyone else had this problem?

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Have a look at the picture below :

Currentley in RE I get a large blank sky which has been marked out by the large text though when in MSTS it does not appear. Any ideas upon why?

Hi

There's a way round this, try pressing ] or [ (I think). It changes the drawing distance or something like that.

My first question would be to ask how close you are to the edge of the tiles? That's the only time I've seen that effect.
I'm more interested in finding out how you got the markers to work. Nothing I do seems to have any effect :(

For Barry,

There has been a lot of discussion in these forums over the years on Marker Files - I can not understand why you would not get these to work, the following is an excerpt from one of mine

SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0I0t______
Marker ( -2.188333 55.85 Reston 2 )
Marker ( -2.658333 55.98167 Athelstaneford 2 )
Marker ( -3.051667 55.93167 Musselburgh 2 )
Marker ( -2.00333 55.765 Docks 2 )
Marker ( -2.005 55.7833 ML1 2 )
Marker ( -2.015 55.7667 FiveArches 2 )
Marker ( -2.00833 55.775 Berwick 2 )
Marker ( -2.00667 55.7767 RoadBridge 2 )
Marker ( -2.01167 55.7633 Shieldfield 2 )
Marker ( -2.01167 55.7917 Highfields 2 )

As long as they are in the above format and in Unicode, and you have markers turned on in the menu of your Route Editor, then they should appear OK.

Format is:-

Marker (
Longitude (negative for west)
Latitude (negative for south)
Label for marker - Do not put spaces in this
0, 1 or 2 - Type of marker - 2 is the best one.

Note that the more decimal places in lat/long the better your accuracy. All the above fields must be there, you can not leave the label blank etc.

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).

... and the marker filename has to be the same as the route's .ref filename, but with the extension .mkr

Would the latitude/ longitude be actual off an OS map 60' to a degree or msts lingo where they use 100' to a degree

Thanks for the advice so far, guys. I tried to follow all the advice from a previous thread after a search. This is the marker file content I'm trying to use, constructed from the original S&C file and c&p here from the 'working' file:

SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0I0t______
Marker ( -0.643126 52.906254 GranthamStn 1 )
Marker ( -0.645196 52.939990 PeascliffeTnlS 0 )
Marker ( -0.648352 52.915123 NottmJunc 0 )
Marker ( -0.647771 52.964786 BarkstonSth 0 )
Marker ( -0.725063 53.030007 ClaypoleXing 0 )
Marker ( -0.774510 53.061047 BaldertonXing 0 )
Marker ( -0.799792 53.081846 NorthgateSta 1 )
Marker ( -0.793716 52.946058 BottesfordSta 1 )
Marker ( -0.952239 52.953755 BinghamSta 1 )
Marker ( -1.029879 52.949101 RadcliffeSta 1 )
Marker ( -1.079106 52.961358 NetherfieldSta 1 )
Marker ( -0.685203 52.918638 BarrowbyTnl 1 )
Marker ( -0.669784 52.936447 GtGonerby 2 )
Marker ( -1.170523 52.941535 NottmSta 1 )

All values are taken from Streetmap.co.uk's calculator under the relevant map.
When I open the Route in RE, and click on the 'Markers' menu entry, I get a short flicker of the screen and nothing else happens - and going back to the menu, the option is still unchecked.
The route is called 'Trent Valley', the folder name is the same, and the marker filename is 'Trent Valley.mkr'.

If I can get these working, then I can add more later to detail the locations and the route properly, but for the moment, I'm totally lost!

oh and Nick? what was your problem caused by?
