There's a few different measurements. Guessing, Old O/S maps or new ones. I should point out the latter is the easiest to obtain, but the most illegal :)

Look for where you want and then play join the squares. If you then get a program like TS Terraform you can put it in and generate markers.

Oh, when registering the terrain, you can do it by OS grid co ordinates as well, click on places on the map on streetmap and the co-ordinates will appear at the bottom of the page.
