Which short(ish) routes would you like to see for MSTS?

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

How about Cleethorpes - Scunthorpe - Doncaster? If you include Immingham and Grimsby Docks, there's huge potential for freight activities (hence "Freight Capital of the North" :D ), as well as a huge mix of semaphore and colour-light signalling.

If that's too big (in content, not length. After all, Scunthorpe Steelworks is nearly a route in itself  ), I'll second the Nottingham - Skegness suggestion - as mentioned earlier, it does pass under the ECML at Barkston, but most services continue straight ahead at Allington Jn., into Grantham where they reverse. At the moment, they then wait for a path north along the ECML to Barkston South, but soon they should be able to head back to Allington and use a new chord there to access the Skeggy line. And there's a good mix of freight (to Boston), engineers (lots over the next month or so) and charter (including one in April which I'll hopefully be travelling on :D ) traffic. Plenty of semaphore signalling too!

I'd be willing to help, in any way I can, with either of these two - they're both fairly local to me, and I've spent lots of time on and around both too :)

May I suggest Doncaster to Sheffield Victoria (great stations), via Conisbrough (interesting Norman castle), Denaby (coal mines), Mexborough, (good sized engine shed), Rotherham (steel works) etc, linking to the ECML (possibly Mid-East 2?) with the Woodhead route. My preference would be BR days 1950 - 1960. LNER Pacifics at Doncasster, black steam engines everywhere else, green diesels, early DMU's, EM1 electris at Sheffield - ah, the memories!!

I take it I would be wasting my breath in asking for another TRAM ROUTE to compliment Vern's excellent Blackpool Route?
Llandudno & Colwyn Bay Tramroad would have been my choice, as it only covers approx 15 miles.
Ah well, keep on dreaming

I might eventually try the Robin Hood from Nottingham to Worksop to tack into it.
:D YES PLEASE!!!! :D

I'd love to see the Robin Hood Line on MSTS.

I live within 200 meters of a section of the line (which now has the new Nottingham Express Transit tramline running alongside), and I use the line a heckuva lot.

I'd have tried making this route a long time ago if I had any idea how to make routes!

(by the way, if someone did decide to work on this project, I could supply tons of information, photographs, history, common stock etc....)

I look forward to seeing this on UKTS some day!

If any one wanted a short route - steepish incline using small locos how about the current Middleton Railway as an ideal starter route?

Bluebell Railway, linking up with London 2 Brighton, west from Horsted Keynes via Ardingly picking up the main line at Copyhold Jn or from Kingscote to the north via East Grinstead picking up the Main line around Croydon or maybe The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway (Only 13.5 miles but well worth it) - http://www.rhdr.org.uk

Maybe you could do a mini collection like the cornish branches (not joined up) although what i would personally love to see is the complete North Kent metro area (London-Dartford/Gillingham including the Woolwich, Bexleyheath and Sidcup lines) or best of all the complete WAGN network London/Peterborough/Cambridge/Kings Lynn/Stanstead/Hertford/Enfield/Chingford but i know you werent looking to do London routes so i will shut up now

New small Route

Post by stanec1 »

How about someone creating The Liverpool Electric Overhead Railway
(Known as the Dockers Umbrella) The route ran from The Dingle (South Liverpool) to Gladstone Dock (North Liverpool) for about12/13 miles.
It was a raised cast iron double track using a third power rail, about 16ft high, to allow access to all the dock entrances and ran allong all the docks
outside the dock walls. It closed in 1956 due to lack of money, it needed 2million pounds but poor foresite by the council allowed it to close.
A bit of world history gone for good UNLESS!!!
If I could build a route it would be this one just to see the docks and ships
I seen as a lad looking out of the trains window.
