Which short(ish) routes would you like to see for MSTS?

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Yes, even with 4 mk 2 coaches the services are pretty full. I frequently use Pontyclun to Cardiff and Taffs Well to Cardiff services, and there is never room to sit - or even stand sometimes!! just goes to show the volume of passenger traffic into / out of Cardiff.

Which are the lines planned for opening?? I know they have long talked about opening the Ebbw Vale line for passneger services, but which is the other one??

This should provide suitable inspiration for a Rhymney line MSTS route....

"Class 37s have been synonymous with South Wales since the first examples of the class arrived for trials at Cardiff Canton in September 1962. Forty years later, the class were still hard at work on their old stamping ground . Fittingly, this double 'WIRED FOR SOUND' e extravaganza features the unmodified Class 37/0 variant the ‘ standard' original design that arrived in South Wales in the early 1960s. For variety and comparison, one journey features a single 37 on a passenger train, the other a pair on a heavy freight!"

Unfortunately, my patience gets severely tested just using the MSTS Activity editor, so I guess that it is highly unlikely that I will ever get to grips with route building...

Research, site visits, track-planning and document-gathering are all in progress on this one...

I've got some really nice civil engineering diagrams of some of the line, some other detailed documentation, along with a mountain of photos and books. And I've got the whole line within easy reach...

It'll be a while before there are any results worth looking at, but when there are, I'll post 'em somewhere!

Here's one that I don't think has been suggested yet: B'ham Snow Hill to as far south as say Banbury, set in the 1940s/1950s. Plenty of branches & loops, some to other lines (e.g. LNWR, SMJR, North Warwicks line etc) numerous goods yards/sidings etc, so plenty of scope for activities.

I spent most of my school summer holidays at Widney Manor station watching the odd steamer, the Blue Pullman, The Westerns, the class 117s, 104s, & 101s along with plenty of class 47s, & the odd 40 & 25 thrown in for good measure.

I was planning on doing something a little different, I was going to do about 15/20 miles of each of the lines that converge on Ashford (kent).
