Route-Riter prob

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Route-Riter prob

Post by spinemaligna »

Hi all,
I have installed RRv5.0.23 and updated it to v5.0.31 but I have a problem. On starting the program I get a message Cant find Makeace.exe then Can't find utils\ffedit folder. They are both in the MSTS directory. After ignoring these messages I try to Check All Activities. After a couple of minutes of scanning the prog stops and I get "File in subroutine CountStock" followed by "Device unavailable" and finally the fatal "RunTime Error 86". Where am I going wrong. Help please.

Thanks for the answer Alan but those file IDs refer to Northern Rail Route which I have never downloaded so shouldn't be affecting my Route-Riter installation. I'm off down south tomorrow for a week so I'll have to try and fix it when I get back.

Alan RR = Route Riter. lol

it sounds like your Route Riter is looking in the wrong place for the Utilities for Msts.

Did you uninstall RR before you installed Version 5.0.23 then upgraded ??

Yes, I did it all by the book. Removed previous version etc. My MSTS installation is on drive D,so I put R-R on D as well. Don't know if that is the problem, but you get the option of changing drives during the insatll.

If RR can not find Makeace.exe etc, then either:-

1. Your MSTS is not fully installed, in which case you will need to install it again. (Check your Train Simulator\Utils folder and see if makeace.exe is in it and that there is also a sub-folder named FFEDIT)

If that is OK, then

2. Your Route_Riter registry entry has become corrupt. This can be fixed by running Regedit from the Start / Run box and going to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Route_Riter
Right click on Route_Riter and select Delete.
Close Regedit and rerun Route_Riter, it should then start OK.
