The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

New route started

Post by cgood124 »

announcing a new route to be produced using UKFinescale which will run from Westbury (Wilts) going to Weymouth. The era is set in modern times and this is my first attempt at a route and I hope that it will turn out ok.
Any questions don't hesitate to contact me

Good luck. Have you got Michael Vone's route building guide? If not, check out the link in the route builder's sticky at the top of this forum.

Hi,

I never used the route guide, thats probabaly why it took me 2 and half years, and about 6 routes later, finally use the route editor properly. For anyone out there, i would just like to know, does it tell you how to use markers on your route at all?

I have a similar problem on a music forum I use a lot. It usually posts my message twice, although I only click submit once. It does it on a lot of PCs though.
Project H2P status: Currently awaiting software to fix PC problems. Got a start on .mkr file, hoping to continue that soon. Wprk should re-commence very soon.

The old copy of the Vone guide I have does not give instructions for markers. He apparently prefers to place a line of trees  That was one of the things I had a gripe with the guide - it is heavily biased towards building fictional routes. A line of trees as a marker file is little use if you want to follow a real line on an OS map for example.

So for marker placement I can only recommend TsTools2 or TSTF, I've used both and both are excellent, even if you don't use the terraforing feature.
