Euston Station (ish)

This was something i started last year but ground to a halt with when i found out coaches became stuck on the 10d switches whilst crossing over! :(

Looking good - Euston is a particularly complex location. I had laid out the track for Glasgow Central ready to extend the Stranraer route but I fear some simplification of the station structures will be needed.

I like that! Are you going to do a custom station? I have a shot of a model at the NRM of the 'new' 1960's station frontage if you want it?

Yep, i'd welcome any Info or photos, the more the better :D

I've got to decide what to do about the rolling stock stickig\binding on the 10d switche before i go any further (Moral: Test test test!). It seems ok wth 4 or 5 coaches but with 8 coaches or more the train can be going through 4 or 5 switches at the same time which slows it down to a stand, then it wont budge, just bounces back 'n' forth!
May have to start again! :oops: :x :o :(

Ive just seen that Bigant is building Euston to Birmingham, so i wont go any further with mine (phew!) and leave it to the pro's :D

I don't think you should give up Stephen! You have a very promising start there with Euston. :)

I don't think you should give up....remember different people have different idea's....we're starved of a long electric main line route (NWE excepted). I think Don is building a 90's version....why not do a 70's version for the 81/82/86 & 87 loco's plus APT and 501..plus there's Willesden Depot, the Bakerloo LU line for 1938 stock so there's a good reason for continuing...

Dons could cover 90's up to present day....

Remember...we've two ECML routes...Tims 70's route & Goingnorths present day GNER version :wink:

Don't give up! It's looking pretty good thus far!

Euston looks hard to model, and I'm surprised how good those pics look.

Bring on the finished article!

I agree, no harm in having 2 or 3 projects based on the same route - there's redundancy if someone has to drop their project and everyone has their own take on how it should look.

Can I suggest perhaps doing it in two stages, say Euston to MKC first then MKC to Brum (with or without Northampton). That would make it more manageable and reduce the prospect of getting fed up. I find 60 mile stages about right to work on - enough to create a substantial portion of route, but not a daunting prospect when it comes to finishing all the work.

Hi

You can either continue for this route, or you could always do another route from a mainline terminus using this 90m DEM data. This would be great as it would give great terrain and allow to get going quickly.

Yes, that's looking very good, you shouldn't give up! :) As others have said, you could easily do a different line that goes into Euston, say a shortish suburban route?
