Ok......Further to my post above......I have managed to unzip the fifth file ok using WinRar instead of Winzip 8.0 and then install update ok.
What software was used to zip these files??? as it appears only to work when unzipped with WinRar not WinZip. Winzip seems to believe that whatever drive you try and unzip the smallest zip file from is actually a floppy / zip drive and not a hard disk. Dunno why but WinRar doesn't have the same probs. Suppose it could just be a quark of whatever software was used to pack the files in the first place.
Cheers
Dave.

Winzip causing problems? I'm no expert on un-archiving problems but this is what I know. If you have XP then don't rely on the built-in version. Download the trial one. If this does not work use Winrar.
The files do work OK as long as you follow the instructions. When I last checked my emails, 14 people have emailed me saying they have it running.
Due to a few problems with my computer the final files where put together on a friends. Winzip 8.1 was used. You must use Winzip 8.0 or newer to unzip them I'm told as they are the only ones to support file splitting. Just double click on the last file, the smallest one.
Thanks to Mike Simpson and his marvellous RouteRiter without which this patch would not have seen the light of day.
Hope those with problems persevere and keep checking back here.
The four activities are packaged and can be found in the activity folder. You must have the Ruabon Barmouth stock pack installed to run them.

My downloaded files were:
1. LLangollen_Patch.zip
2. LLangollen_Patch.z01.zip
3. LLangollen_Patch.z02
4. LLangollen_Patch.z03
5. LLangollen_Patch.z04
Unzipping file 1 (LLangollen_Patch.zip) would not work with Winzip, then I realised that file 2 should be .z01 not z01.zip. After renaming that file to Langollen_Patch.z01, Winzip unzipped all the files correctly.

I had the same experience as John. For some strange reason the downloaded z01 file had an extra .zip extension on it even though it doesn't show as that when the download window opens.
Just remove the .zip from the z01 file name, leaving .z01 through .z04 and one .zip file (file 5) and then use winzip on the .zip file. And then follow the instructions to install the patch.

Gordon,
I used Winzip 8.0 to try and unzip the files as per instructions.......It just kept expecting the drive that they were all on to be a floppy / zip drive that would have a disk inserted. As they were on a HD it then expected the HD to be named the same as the zip files would be which obviously wasn't the case......
Anyhows i managed to unpack the linked archive by using WinRar 3.20. which unpacked the lot no problems.
Regarding the other post above about having a strange .z01.zip file extension..... i just rechecked the filkes i d/l'd but my file just has the normal .z01 extn.
Cheers
David.

Hi All,
As Gordon says, you can all blame me for any confusion on this one. The latest version of Route-Riter includes a new zip option which will make equal sized multiple zips, which none of the other zip programs can do.
The files are named:-
Myroute.z01
Myroute.z02
Myroute.z03
etc
Myroute.zip
The only file you need to open is the last one, Myroute.zip, the others can not be directly opened with most zip programs, although maybe WinRar can open them.
All you need to do to open them is unzip the last file and extract it , this file is effectively an index to the other files and automatically extracts the files from all the archives.
Versions of WinZip earlier than v8 do not support this type of multi-part zip files, nor does the built in XP unzipper. However if you have the latest version of Route-Riter - i.e. v4 or later, then you can go to the General Utils section and use the option there 'MyZipp' which is also capable of opening these archives.
