Fife to Edinburgh

Post by Cobos »

I'm afraid I've come no closer to finding this problem the route has in a certain tile. It could be the one with 100+ objects. It could be the one with 1300+ objects. It's frustrated me so much I'm not going to continue with the route as it is. The route is drivable, and no errors happen when driving through any area. It's on exiting an activity that the send/don't send message arrives. I'm not releasing a route that will do this every time.

However, I have already started again from scratch. This time I have actually cut the trackbeds in TS Tools using a background map I pieced together from the Streetmap site. Distances are now fairly spot on, and to be honest, I'm much happier with the track layout at Haymarket than what I had before. I simply used long and lat co-ords before and the distances didn't match in places.

Release date, well MSTS 2 will probably be out before I'm done. :x

Hi cobos

That really is a shame and I'm surprised that you are starting again, the route was soo good first time round, i'm sure you will match it second, alot of people would throw in the towel but good for you having another go!

I look forward to seeing any progress, and wish yu well

I have started another route tonight, No'ness and Kinneil Railway, I don;t think itll take long to do, scenery wont behard i mean it's just trees!

I'm in the middle of downloading this route ... should I continue? Is the update likely to be a substantial patch?

Cheers

Sorry to hear of the problems, unfortunately when the RE bites it does so with relish. Very similar problem when I started the Irish route - Send/Don't Send going from one tile to another or after laying a couple of pieces of track. Tried everything - deleting dynamic track, deleting 3D objects, tdb rebuilds - no joy.

Let's hope MTS2 has an editor that's bug free and fully supported by MS. I persevered in V.1 as I wanted to show support for the first proper commercial train sim but I may not be so forgiving of V.2!

It is a shame to hear that news Cobos. I think the previous version of Fife - Edinburgh was one of the top three routes available for MSTS. I hope you have better luck this time. :)

You can continue to download the beta version. It will give you an idea of the route.

The new version, in game terms, is more of a total re-write than an update. Finescale track is used, and the route is much longer, although the scenery at Edinburgh will be very similar to the beta version.

This is the first time RE has went mental on me, and I definately agree, it bites with relish. I'll get there though, hopefully.

I've been slowly learning how to use Gmax, thanks to the video tutorial posted by turbestu and some invaluable help from Peter Holton and Trackdancer. I have been spending some time remodelling Haymarket station. I chose this over Waverley, due to the complexity of Waverley. I'll leave that to the brilliant Scott Strachan. A couple of screenshots posted. Hopefully the modelling is of reasonable quality.

To say it looks good is an understatement! Glad someone knows how to use GMAX, it's rock hard!

One thought though, will you make the final version available on CD for those of us without broadband? I do hope so, because downloading routes via an unreaiable 56K line is quite hard!

That grotty platform is fantastic.
I wouldn't be surprised to see animated rats in the tunnel if you keep up that standard.
