Are there any routes for MSTS of the First Great Eastern Railway in the south east of England, I think it would be a great route have in MSTS, especially now it run 100 mph trains (well will do in the summer). If there isn't one at the moment, is anyone going to make one?

Hi

Yes there is a route out for FGE Manningtree to Harwich by AndyG who is doing an expantion I think to Colchester and Ipswich and on to Liverpool St. Pre Eletric.

I am in the prosess of building the route from Harwich to Norwich and Liverpool St as a modern day route it is comming along slowly but I think I might put it on hold until MSTS2 comes out as it wouldnt be finished befor the release.

Will keep you informed.

Anyone doing a Great Eastern route had better get a move on considering FGE will cease to exist next year

Not so sure if that is going ahead by the looks of things. See this thread HERE I asked the creator if he was extending the route to Liverpool Street but got no response.

As I understand it, from April next year the GE, Anglia and anglia bits of WAGN will be combined into one franchise called Greater Anglia. FGE have been barred from bidding by the SRA. The 3 qualified bidders are Arriva Trains Ltd, GB Railways Plc and National Express Group PLC.

You should visit http://www.sra.gov.uk/sra/news/franchise.tt2 and look for the 1 April release.

I think this is an outrageous decision and everyone who uses FGE should be loudly complaining to the SRA.

I keep hearing that state control is the cure for all evils. There's no guarantee that would be the case.

Reimposing the British version of state control would leave the Treasury in charge resulting in chronic underfunding, hundreds of pointless Treasury imposed targets etc. It would be just as likely to result in the slow decay of railways in the UK as to provide some sort of glorious future.
