Freeware SMJ Route now available.
Just to announce the latest Big Vern aka Trainsim UK Freeware Route is now available. This is the Stratford on Avon and Midland Junction Railway. Please visit my route page:

for further info.
Due to file sizes, the usual CD distribution arrangements will apply. Those members of the community who have assisted with files or information will be getting a CD in the next couple of weeks.

The most immediate thing is a short rest!
Then it's in to TS Modeller and try and bring the Far North route up to mid-2003 standards rather than early 2002.
After that, I've a couple of smaller branch line projects to look at. The Northern Line is effectively dead at present due to a proliferation of Send/Don't Send errors. I'll keep the track plan on ice in the event it can be revived at a later stage. In the meantime, I was thinking maybe Ryde to Shanklin which would give Richard's tube stock a sort of home, also a nice easy route to cut my teeth on with TS Tools. However at present I'm unable to track down a gradient profile.
I also haven't forgotten the West Highland or Rosslare to Waterford but I want some firm information on MTS 2 before launching into any major (i.e. 40 mile plus) new routes or extensions.

Having had the privilege to run a beta copy of the route, you're going to love this. Vern's really captured the rolling middle English countryside perfectly.
It really gives you a good feel of what travelling on the SMJ was like, even 40 years after it was closed. Very nice, a piece of history modelled.

Hi Vern
Ryde-Shanklin would be brilliant.
If you need to try and track down some info try posting and loooking here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/railwaysinthewight/
Also. the book 'Portrait of the Isle of Wight Railways' by Handel Kardas is a good resource as well.
And if all this fails try emailing the IoW Steam Railway (havenstreet@iwsteamrailway.co.uk), i'm sure they'll give you a load of info.
