How can I make my track sound like *insert route here*

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Hi ????,
Track sounds are in fact generated by the Rolling Stock from .wavs in the MSTS Sound Folder.

Go to the Front page UKTS Click Downloads search Type in 'Keyword' "UKSteamTrack" for the De-Dah Clacketey Clack sounds.

Good luck

In the Route who's sounds you wish to use, navigate to the SOUND folder,

Look for the file "ingame.sms", copy and paste into 'Your Route" SOUND folder (back up your original though first).

That's it :)

It does not seem to work.

Maybe I should clarify. I want to use an SMS file named europesteamtrack0ex(or in).sms instead of usatrack0ex(or in).sms on my track. How would I modify this?

Ahh,
OK, it's still quite simple. It's the ttype.dat file that you need to alter in your route

A typical entry would be:-

10
TrackType ( "Default" "USATrack0In.sms" "USATrack0Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Concrete Supported" "EuropeSteamTrack1In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack1Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Wood Supported" "EuropeSteamTrack2In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack2Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "In Tunnel" "EuropeSteamTrack3In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack3Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Steel Bridge" "EuropeSteamTrack4In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack4Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Girder Bridge" "EuropeSteamTrack5In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack5Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Under Bridge" "EuropeSteamTrack6In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack6Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Concrete Bridge" "EuropeSteamTrack7In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack7Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Crossing Platform" "EuropeSteamTrack8In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack8Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Wooden Bridge" "EuropeSteamTrack9In.sms" "EuropeSteamTrack9Ex.sms" )

Just edit the entries that you want to change.... perhaps just the default?
Make sure that the number at the start of the file (in this case 10), matches the number of Track types listed
