Funnily enough I was browsing the last MEP topic last night, noticed a "very imminent" back last August and was wondering the same thing, last I actually heard was still testing and there was a prob with stock and/or some acts or something.

Hi Depman

Mick (Clarke) has been extremely busy sorting out Laurie's (Dickerson) Activities so that they work OK on the latest version of MEP - It was extremely fortunate that I kept all Laurie's APK's on file to send to Mick so that Mick could fix them up as a MEP tribute to Laurie.

Mick is still "fine tuning" both the MEP Route, the Rolling Stock and the remaining Activities - he has so far re-worked over 70 Activities which has in itself been a mammoth task and all have been re-tested to ensure they are perfect - there are still around 30 to Re-Work so please be patient for a little longer as we can assure you that everyone will be "Gobsmacked" when Mick releases MEP

Regards

On behalf of the MEP Team

All Laurie's activities that I decided to re-work (some were very similar to existing later ones by others) have now been completed and are working fine on the latest version of the route. This has been a big job since virtually all the paths were broken and lots of additional features have been added since Laurie 'retired' from MEP after being involved in the early stages. Also the stock has been completely revised, renamed and overhauled for performance and reliability since Laurie was active. So all the consists have had to be updated as well.

Many minor glitches have been found and rectified just doing this exercise.

Hopefully bringing the final 30 or so up to date will be a little quicker and easier.

Hi all.
Just came across this and I have to say that it looks and sounds truly amazing. Really looking forward to travelling along the old Nottinghamshire Coalfield routes and especially down the Clipstone line (having been too young to remember the real mcoys rumbling down there). One question though, with the timeline being set in the 70s/80s and the line running to Clipstone and Rufford Collieries, does it also run into Mansfield Colliery yard/sidings? As the pit would still have been operational at this time. I appreciate the huge effort going/gone into this build and also that it is semi-ficticious. Just thinking how cool it would be to see it represented as I'm only about 5 minutes away from the former site.

With regards to the route, what other routes diverge from the core ECML? Is the Cambridge line from Hitchin to Cambridge included?

Progress is good. The last few revised activities need to be tested and then a release may be very imminent.

For anyone that doesn't know, release has been delayed for nearly a year due to problems found with some stock which needed to be replaced or modified. Around 100 activities have been modified and retested. This has resulted in a very thorough check of underlying problems in the route, mostly signalling related.

We are currently on Final Extra 29 revision- that's after the route was considered 'ready' last year. The route would have been fine but now its more or less bullet proof regarding operational aspects. (Famous last words :o ).

Recapping- the route covers

KX to York North
KX to Hunstanton
KX to Skegness
Hertford Loop
Knottingley Loop
Doncaster to Peterborough via Lincoln
Nene Valley
Notts Coal Fields
Yorks Coal Fields
Wisbech Tramway
Derwent Valley Railway

All stock is unique to MEP regarding physics. A great deal of effort has been put into achieving realistic performance within the limits of MSTS.

Cheers for the update Mick - to use the old adage - if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well, and such a major release as this is most certainly worth waiting for! :)

Just another quick query. Will London Kings Cross to Peterborough have the wires up as these were installed in the late 70's to early 1980's as part of the Great Northern Electrification Scheme, of which i think you will already know of.
