Missing terrain

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Missing terrain

Post by nicolasblackhurst »

Hi,

I am sure that this has been on here before, but I cannot find it.

I am trying to build the route around Chester and have been away from it for a while. Now when I load the route there is no terrain at all, the markers are there but everything else is white. I am sure that I remember seeing how to cure this problem, but can find no trace of it, could someone jog my poor old worn out memory please.

This isn't just a few tiles missing it is the whole thing. :(

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick

Are you using the MSTS bin patch? Installing this should get rid of the "great white void" problem.

You can get the patch from here: http://mstsbin.uktrainsim.com/ and there's a lot of useful tips and info here: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewforum.php?f=256

Hi Ash,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I am, I tried to see if there was an update but it said that I have the latest one.

As you've said that you haven't touched the route for a while, have you since re-installed MSTS?

Hi Terry,

Yes, I think that I have. But maybe not, perhaps I should reload it and reinstall MSTS Bin Patch to see if that makes any difference.

It's re installing msts when your route is still in the ROUTES folder that's caused your problem.
Unless you've a back up (Just copy the contents of the TILES folder across), I'm afraid that your terrain could well be lost forever.

Hi,

Oh well, thanks anyway, luckily I hadn't done too much work on it, but it is a bit of a pain though.
