SCOTTISH CENTRAL GETS THE GREEN LIGHT.

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Hi Art,

From Don's post above
All being well, Pete is hoping to release the route by the end of January, testing is progressing well.
so hopefully soon; however it will be when it is ready :-)

And 'with my tongue firmly in my cheek' all the rolling stock will be unique to the Route so will work with it.

Good luck

Hi Art,

It will be a DVD and a mini route, most of the stock was designed for this route, and most of the Loco's were allocated to Scottish Region Sheds, they range fromm shunters to express loco's there is about 50 Items of stock

You get A1/A2/A3/A4 Pacifics Some Deltics Diesels,Specialy made Gresely and Thompson Coaches, some Hughes Crabs 2-6-0 and Black 5 will leave the rest then they will be a surprise for you.

It Goes from just North of Dunbar in the South to Dundee so you cross both the Forth and Tay Bridges,Also from Edinburgh Princes Street (closed about 1964) to Glasgow Central, and Glasgow Queen Street to Perth, ther is about 25 activities to get started,Passenger Freight and Shunting before you ask.

There will be no need for you to fiddle around with cabs, the loco's all work OK I should know I tested them and the Route.

I can't wait for this, The original SCE was the first route I downloaded back in 2004(?) and I've been waiting for it to be finished since :D

wonderful news i am esp glad it is set in the Steam era, i was too late to see steam on the rails in Scotland when i spent a summer touring the Highlands in 1974, and again during the long vacs during my years at University in the later 70s up at Oxford, and really look forward to seeing some familiar sights when the route comes out, thanks so much for the amazing and dedicated work on this, remarkable achievmenet and much appreciated. I will be happy to help with graphics or screenshots which are my forte if that might help ..... i love that part of studyi8ng routes. thanks again and looking forward to release. I will be ordering the disk with pleasure.

Hi Cris,

It has some first generation diesels and dmu's but they are all in the early diesel green livery of the late 1950's to mid 1960's.

If your into activity makeing there is plenty of scope with this route, you can run coal train from the Fife colleries to power stations, malt vans to distileries, and full vans of whisky leaving,in those days there was fish trains from Aberdeen which went through Dundee,so you could start a fish train from there to Dunbar,as they were express you can use any of the A1/2/3/4 Pacifics.

The thing to remember is the East Coast route was Eastern Region,so any train going through Waverley will be ER loco's they start with 6XXXX.Trains between Princes ST and Glasgow Central were LM and the Loco's start with 4XXXX and 5XXXX, loco's you can use to Princes St Duchess Paciffics and Black/Standard 5's, you can also use BR Standards as well on both routes.

Hi Michael and thanks so much..that is just the sort of data i needed to do some acts, yes i do want to design some, as i really enjoyed seeing the routes when i was up north over the Border and wondered what might have populated those empty rails that i chanced across in my wandering around in the Highlands, there were deserted lines all over the place back then and i always wanted to see what might have been there back when. This will really be fun. I will take stock of what I have in the way of the equipment you mention, but as i have over 13,000 coaches, wagons and 3000 engines of various kinds now, installed, i should be in pretty good shape.

Hi Cris,

It comes with all the stock you will need for the route, and most are Scottish Based,There are some D11 Loco's in the libery that you can use as well, although if you use one in a activity Leaving Glasgow Queen St it can only haul 5 MK1 coaches, just like in real life,it quit a climb out of the station.
In the early days of railways it was rope hauled, even to day modern diesels can struggle on the climb

ah excellent that is great to get the stock we need. That grade problem reminds me of some of the steep grades on the southern lines including the Mendips where my skills as a driver took a severe testing .... i will remember about that out of Aulde Reekie..... thanks for that heads up. I wonder if they used helper engines for the steam consists.

Hi There,

Just to add,

The 4 Scottish D11/2 Directors made it in time for inclusion onto the disc including the activity where you have to haul the train out of Queen St and up Cowlairs bank.

Hi Cris,

The longer trains used to get a shove up the bank by the incoming loco, when the diesels took over the Edinburgh -Glasgow Service they had a class 27 each end of the train, then later it was a class 47 with a driving trailer, but the 47 train is later than the era of the route.

Hi on the LNER Pacifics CD by which was produced some time ago by Blue Arrow there were a number of activities on the CD which you could install if you had the old version of the SCR. Will you be able to do the same on the new version? when it is released please. Thanks, Peter.
