Oh dear!

Cheers Scott,
I was working on Hawkhead on the Paisley Canal line but after having problems with the terrain, I did my usual dive somewhere else on the line and Shieldmuir was a simple one to do.

I hope Glasgowworks doesn't mind me using one of his pics here, just for a then and now comparison.

Dumbreck is very difficult to do, not just because there's not much space, but because it's slap bang next to the Inverclyde lines and lies between Polmadie and Corkerhill depots, and it's not possible to make an accurate representation as we're on some very busy tiles.

However, given it a go and the results are below.

First we see the station on v2
Image
Old default station, Swedish catenary, no scenery in proximity.

Now for Version 3.

Here we see a pair of 320s pass through Dumbreck on an ECS working to Polmadie.

Thanks guys. Now I've got to do the boring and tedious job of putting in the scenery between the stations on the line!

A couple of updates for the following.
steamnut44 wrote:Niall, you are making a brilliant job of your Glasgow Carlisle Route V3. I know it is set in the 70s, but this route is also ideal for running steam locos over Beatock Sumit. However, it would be nice if you could add some Water Cranes on the main line platforms at Carlisle, Carstairs & Glasgow, so that locos don't run out of water before completing a long journey. I ran a Duchess from Carlisle to Glasgow with 14 coaches on Version 2 and ran out of water, just before Motherwell. Many people like to run steam trains on this route and without watering facilities, long journeys are impossible. Thank's :D

Geoff
Hi Geoff, There may well be one watering facility on the route and someone is looking into helping me by putting them in the loops at Lockerbie so both northbound and southbound services can fill up. If it's a success I'll let you know.
dee4141 wrote:I've been watching your progress with interest too, Niall. There's a particular activity that I've wanted to do for ages. Am I right in thinking that the earlier versions could be run with or without the overhead wires? and will this still be possible on your updated route? You're doing a brilliant job btw. :D
Hi, I tried on a backup today to do use the batch file but it kept causing a number of errors and wouldn't load the route.
I'll try and ask David at some point if he can re-visit it, but for the moment it doesn't work. Sorry.

Blantyre is on the old v2 section of the route and after Derek (sundaypm) kindly made the station building for me, I've got into RE and finished it off tonight.

It's still classed as WIP as the scenery just beyond the station at both ends is the default scenery from the old version. I'll change that when I officially get round to working on the version 2 stages.

Anyhow, hope you like!

Work kicks back in full-time on Monday and I thought I'd have one last crack at doing a station. This time it's Airbles, also on the Hamilton Loop.

Station is ok, still needs scenery around it.

Heading into Airbles from Motherwell direction.

You can see in the background, default scenery is still there, these still have to be replaced.

Even with stations where the scenery is a bit fictional, I believe signs like the one you see outside the cab add a touch of realism (and scope for a football-game related activities!)

Looks lovely!

A route doesn't need to be 100% realistic to be greatly enjoyable; it just needs to feel realistic!

The golden rule is, as long as I like it, that's all that matters. :D

As you said the first word, thats the end of summer approaching and as you noticed, all the schools are back this week!
Secondly, your shots are good, comparing to the ones with version 2. :D

Not having much time now, progress is slow, especially on the Wemyss Bay line which is proving to be a challenge (gradients making scenery placing a nightmare).

Here's a couple of pics of a work-in-progress Inverkip station.

And a "needs lots more work" IBM halt.

Had hoped to have finished this line by now, but it's barely started. :(
