After the week's trials and tribulations, back in RE this evening. Hillington East is one of those stations that it's not possible to get accurate (the trackwork was laid before I took over) so I just do the best I can and this is my effort.

Had an hour or so free, so did a little bit on Cardonald. As with Hillington stations, the trackwork here is slightly different to real life.

Today, after fighting Route Editor in the Cardonald area, I gave up and randomly choose another area to have a play with.
Went with Crookston. Scenery on this single line will be more generic than the Gourock-Glasgow line, but I still want it to look nice.
And before anyone says so, yes I know there's catenary there. For now it stays (and besides in a few years the line will be electrified anyway!).

Shots from earlier in the day...

As you can see, pretty light on scenery.

That was going to be it for the night until Scotland did their usual losing act against Holland and I fired up RE again.

Now with some more scenery added, yet there's loads still to put in, these shots were carefully selected!

Looking very good Niall - you know the old saying, 'one station at a time'.

Until your latest set of shots, I thought Clydeside was always sunny.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Thanks.

In that case, you've never tried one of my Scottish acts, it's nearly always chucking it down in them!

This is going to be the last update for probably a month or so, due to work.
When I first started, I was never really happy with the stations around Greenock, and this weekend I ripped out Cartsdyke station and re-did it. Anyone who has followed progress or look at the videos will notice I rarely included Cartsdyke. It was always my intention to re-work it.

This is how it looked.

Pretty basic, platforms too far away from trains and no station scenery.

And this is how it looks now.

Whole station now re-done. The station building is a reverse model, kindly provided by Derek, of the Hillington West building. The one at Cartsdyke is pretty similar (textures need slight tweaking).

Niall, you are making a brilliant job of your Glasgow Carlisle Route V3. I know it is set in the 70s, but this route is also ideal for running steam locos over Beatock Sumit. However, it would be nice if you could add some Water Cranes on the main line platforms at Carlisle, Carstairs & Glasgow, so that locos don't run out of water before completing a long journey. I ran a Duchess from Carlisle to Glasgow with 14 coaches on Version 2 and ran out of water, just before Motherwell. Many people like to run steam trains on this route and without watering facilities, long journeys are impossible. Thank's :D

I've been watching your progress with interest too, Niall. There's a particular activity that I've wanted to do for ages. Am I right in thinking that the earlier versions could be run with or without the overhead wires? and will this still be possible on your updated route? You're doing a brilliant job btw. :D
