OK - thanks for that clarification Mick.

I will see what SWMBO can dig up for you and send it on if it appears to be useful. SWMBO is into local history whereas I can't giving a flying pig about that being more interested in model railways and train simulators.
Kindest regards

You could always rebadge Tesco as Hillards!

O.K. ENOUGH already!!!

For some reason I got NO updates of new posts to this thread and knew nothing of your efforts until Mick mailed me and protested he was getting stick for my post!!!

There's a lesson here for all of us?

Criticism is essential to improve anything and I as a member of the testing team had spotted the fact that the Tesco logo looked rather out of date for the route, but when I posted earlier I did so to prove to the critics that it isn't always easy to find detail of what is in effect 40 year old history. I knew there was an older logo but like those who've been looking could not find any reference to it and couldn't remember what it looked like. I used to shop in Tesco's in the 70's but just hadn't "logged" in the grey matter what the logo was.

After my challenge to the critic here I set about finding out for my own interest. It took some time but I got lucky. When I say I got lucky I can't find the site I found at the time now for love nor money. I've had to waste more time finding other references to support my original finding and it's taken a lot of doing......

.....as apparently many of you have found!!!

To support my original findings

Mick's post here has crossed my post to him telling him I'd found a logo and done some mods to the .aces. Of course I can't post them here because the author of the model hasn't OK'd the changes yet but I've identified the Font and using WordArt have created a logo "lookalike".

This I've rescaled and added to the textures pending the authors approval.

So...sorry that Mick's post seemed to trash your efforts and for underestimating the interest in the point :-? . However a case of frustration at criticism and criticism without constructive input IMO.

I'd also apologise to David because my challenge to the critic seems to have detracted from his efforts not only in creating the activity but also taking the time to create and upload the screenshots for everyone.

No ones sitting on their hands with MEP. It's taken this long because a lot of work has gone into it. It is up there with the biggest routes available for MSTS and as such contains hundreds of pieces of scenery. Thanks to those who cared enough and did try and find the logo. I really did get lucky first time round and can't replicate the search now however much I try, BUT at least I gleaned more intelligence in my attempts. Tesco opened their first Superstore in 1968 so they were around in the MEP era.

If the author approves the changes and Mick will impliment them I'll test the activity and post more screenshots of the modification here.

In the meantime any guesses at the price of petrol in 1977 8) ?

Geoff

You are not authorised to change any of my Models under any circumstances without first contacting myself for permission.

Geoff Wrote!!
You may have noticed the track facing logo on the store side isn't working at night. IMO that's actually quite prototypical and needs no fixing?
You have completely missed the fact that I have developed "unique" Night lighting whereby as the environment changes in MSTS, the lighting of the Buildings, Signs etc start to change in the windows of the Buildings, Signs, Building fronts gradually etc etc and these Buildings aren't painted black any more as was the previous practice with MSTS Buildings in the Night folder "ie" the night folder is empty of this model, the Alternative Texture in the "SD" file is now only a #1 for Snow. This is another "first" for MSTS and by association MEP - The technique I have developed is used on the Tesco Building, Signs and many other buildings etc etc.

As for you stating that the Tesco font is wrong you are incorrect as the font I have used is a copy of a Photo of an "Old" Tesco store name in the Cheltenham area when I was on Holiday in UK so it cannot be more unique than that can it!!!

However if Mick wants my Tesco signs changing I will do it for Mick and only Mick as he is the respected Author of MEP.

Quite especially as you carn't drive to Boston or Skegness on East Coast Express.

Come to think of it MEP is a much larger route then ECE.

Well as the 2nd sticky from the top in this thread apparently no longer applies.......?

Does this mean you've already exhausted any fun that you can have out of £80+ worth of ECE and add-ons?
Don't bother to reply I'm unsubscribing from this topic

No need to be smart.

Really your comment was just insulting to the whole of the MEP team, making it seem like we really shouldnt have bothered with it and that ECE is as good/better.

I personally find that pretty insulting.

case closed. next...

Don't tell me if the case is closed at all.
Right,

A) I didn't actually know that it was MEP at all, as I just looked at the pictures, and made an assumption
B) Don't assume about me - I didn't imply at all that ECE was better then MEP at all, I just said that it was ECE, and then I said I could have some fun
C) I don't really care if you find it insulting
As I said, it was meant to be a joke - and if you can't take a joke, as well as the above, then whatever. Doesn't fuss me

How many times do members have to be reminded that the "report this post" button is the preferred way of getting disputes settled, rather than trying to settle them yourselves ?

John (or any of the other moderators who happen to be passing) can you lock this thread please.

It was my thread created mainly to show off both the Derby Single (hence the thread title) or the MEP scenery. It appears to be doing neither of these things now so it might be best to lock it and let it drop out of the spotlight.

Thanks very much.
