I know Tim stated the route was based around the jubilee year (1977), however it always appeared to me more based around 1986/7, but without the previously mentioned electrification of course.
Jon,

I think its the trackwork thats based on the late 80's in the original. The stock is based on the jubilee year. To some extent we have the same problem in PLUS as its very difficult to get hold of actual old track plans. Some parts though are based on real older trackwork, where I do have info, and some is just guesswork where the Beeching Cuts have been reinstated.
Three examples of real pre 70's/80's track:
Skegness,
Stow (near Lincoln),
Hunstanton.

Hi Mick
Something for everyone, it can't help but be a big hit. :P
BTW........I meant to post the other day, when lights were being discused, the Class 25 front lights should be red not white.
As they were only tail lights.
Cheers

To clarify, the front lights should be red? :o

This doesn't sound like good safety practice.

Do other MSTS 25's have red front lights?

Hi Mick
Virtually all diesels had them, not just class 25s.
Basically it saved having to use oil lamps, although I believe all locos still had to carry one.

Wow, looks excellent!

Any chance of a map showing the extent of the route?

Well I have got one in pdf format, which it has to be as it covers a huge area, but I'd started to put To/From labels on the "ends" of lines that extended further. The idea was that activities could be for a train using the actual trackage originating or ending at a destination off route. Unfortunately Mick's enthusiasm  for adding bits means that my latest effort has all the track but no labels as yet..... and right now I don't have time to label them all.

I've used the excellent "Mapper" utility for this and that takes the detail from the programme itself of course. It's not as zoomable as Track Viewer but IMO you'll need both utilities to plan activities or explore the route if you don't want to use AE every time. Mapper gives you the chance to create gifs (which can be converted to .pdfs to make them easier to use) and Track Viewer gives you AE levels of detail of sidings etc.

I'll see what Mick thinks and maybe upload the basic map as a starter and update it as and when I have time. We intend to include it in the routes documentation of course.
