Hi
Thanks very much.
Most of the scenery at the Paddington end is Derick's work.
Thanks Dave for the models and permission, I will definitely be including them.
Something I'm not sure of is which way round Long Rock should be ?
That is to say, was the open end facing away or towards Penzance station.

A view of Penzance

and the Tamar Bridge added

(and yes that London bus is going over it.... )

Cheers
Jon

Superb work there, Jon - long may it continue. Particularly nice for me to see Ranelagh Bridge added.

I bashed my chin on that level crossing gate at Paignton when I was a lad, after watching a Peak arrive with a cross-country service. For some reason the barrier went up :)

Like the Raneleigh Bridge shots - wonder if its possible to create an activity as ferry driver between RB and Padd.

Bring Train engine in from RB couple up and then with BIN patch follow the train out and run light either to RB or Old Oak

Funny you should say that John, as that is what I was playing with last night.
Unfortunately I currently seem to have a problem with my bin front couplings, along with a migraine, so I gave up for now.

Could do what they used to do in the 70's switch cabs then reverse onto the stock  (If I get a front coupling prob with BIN , just makes a a rear coupling :o )

great work jon

Ive always loved the P2P route but felt it was a little sparse and lacking in a few details. I cant wait to see what you do with this fantastic route (and its always nice to see a route in diesel days instead of those kettles on wheels  (ducks and runs for cover ))

Well done Jon, this is looking amazing. I've always liked Paddington to Penzance and rrun it regularly. However, I'd be telling porkies if I said there weren't times when I wished that a bit more scenery existed on the more sparsely covered sections, as the parts of the route that are fully scenarised (if that's the word) are truly splendid. I do understand the difficulties involved in doing all this scenery work when Dereck first uploaded the route because, of course, it's enormous!

The great thing about your work on this route to my mind is the fact that there's now so much great diesel era stock out there to really maximise the potential - Wizzos, Warships, Hymeks, Hoovers (including your fine reskins, of course!). There's also the North British A1A-A1A Warships and updated D63xx models that Tim Court (I think, could have been Mike Davies) was working on at one stage, if they are still in the pipeline.

How far do you intend to go, may I ask, Jon? Whatever, I wish you all the best with your endeavours. :P

Hi
Thanks James and Ash
Currently the plan is
jbilton wrote:Thanks Dave and Terrone.
Its early days yet......... but I won't pack up easily.....I think MSTS has life in it yet.
Current plan (which may get cut back)is to do the following

Penzance (Long Rock+ coach sidings)
Westbury (North and South yards, FP)
Exeter (FP and a few miles of Waterloo route)
Bristol BR
Didcot
OOC
Swindon (FP)
Reading. (FP)
Plymouth (Laira)
Newton Abbot (FP)
St Blazey (done but might re-do)

The 3 big quarries (for stone working)
Some work alreday done at Westbury, Frome and the B & Hants mainline.

Paignton including the Steam railway to Kingswear (which is already superbly scenerised by Derick)

Cheers
Jon
It is a bit ambitious, But if anyone else fancies having a go at an area, or anything specifically then just post.
I've decided not to alter too much trackwork, otherwise these projects drag on too long.
Cheers

Its a good question Jon. The shed was open at the Eastern end. I'll e-mail you a scan of my 1971 trackplan.

Not particularly having a go at an area as such, but I was planning on trying the PDSR more or less as is these days over my ridiculously long summer holiday. Going by my past record, I'd say it's more likely to end up as vapourware than finished and uploaded but if you want to potentially lighten your load a bit, you could maybe leave that section until later on to see how I progress and then maybe go back to it if I give up. From memory, it does seem like it'd need a fair bit of work to get an accurate representation as I believe the trackwork has been laid fully in double track (without the carrige sidings at Paignton?) in a very sort of straight, bend, straight, bend manner. That said, I haven't actually driven down that section yet (decided to go along the sea wall to it on explore mode but I missed my turn at Newton Abbott, doing about 60 at the time).
Awaiting a computer that'll run KRS... *twiddles thumbs*

Hi
You must have been going a bit to miss Aller Junction..... :o  ....but you remember it correctly.
I have done some alterations to this section............mainly so I could have Paignton and the carriage sidings at Goodrington Sands.....and also somewhere to run 'Hercules'.
What I've done is turned inwards just after Goodrington sands, in a big loop, so I could get Broadsands viaduct in before Churston.I've added the yard there, along with the turntable.
Although of course it didn't move till later. I've also added (retained) the passing loop at Goodrington sands for operational purposes.
So basically it doesn't really fit a real era.
Kingswear is already highly detailed by Derick.
Although I am thinking about rationalising the trackwork.... but it would seem to be a shame to do that.
Hopefully finish Churston this weekend, and do some screenshots, so you can see what you think.
Cheers

Got it , thanks Dave. :D
I think I'll have to do a simpler version of it though, as I doubt there's enough room.
