15:10 Cumbernauld to Motherwell

Post by glasgowworks »

There has been nothing new on North Glasgow route for MSTS for a few years now, the route having been released in 2002. Here First Scotrail class 156 makes it's journey to Motherwell on a wet day.

Funnily enough, I was on the Cumbernauld-Motherwell service the other day.

If you want to see plenty of locos in sidings, it's a good journey to take.

Yes, a good journey to see freightliner stock. I was trainspotting in Ballieston and Mount Vernon stations one day to see coal trains and other freight stock as well as usual 156s. Went to Wifflet serval times. :D

One point.

Coatbridge was shunted from the north end so your 08 is at the wrong end.

Any shunting at the south end would be done by the train engine.

its a shame because with scenery it would be a really nice route. Through Glasgow, down the side of the river Clyde by the Erskine bridge into tourist hot-spot Balloch or continue along the river side to Helensburgh.

Yes, you're right, North Glasgow route is un-scenerised, and in some parts untidy. But, it would be nice if Glasgow North Route has scenery. Not to forget that it was released some 6 years ago.

In fact, I passed Coatbridge Central today for a run in a car to a model shop in Uddingston (just near the railway station so Uddingston Station would be in Glasgow Carlisle V2 route.)

By the way, more shots:

Then why not have a go? Daniel Wilkie is still around, and contactable, and I'm sure many people -- including myself -- would love to see a sceneried version.

I've changed the weather to a sunny evening, as the one of the shots above. If all goes well I may make more a different time and weather or even a different service like Cumbernauld to Queen Street or Drumgelloch to Partick or something.
