Thanks for posting that photo Jon.
D1030 for a time actually carried the two lights on the opposite sides to the rest of the class. i.e the tail light was on the driver's side. In the early days of diesels they didn't of course carry headlights as we see today but just marker lights, presumably as an indication of which way the loco was going and a light loco had to have a handlamp as the tail light I believe.
Ian's comment sounded quite logical (although I knew it was wrong, having lived and breathed D1000's since short trouser days!) it proves that photographic evidence should always be used when making models whether for MSTS or a model railway layout and nothing left to assumption (or even logic!).
I also notice that Reg has applied data panels by the arrows. They only ever carried them by the loco number.
Overall some great work, originally by Reg and taken to th next stage by Jon. Well done chaps!

Regards,

Paul

Hi Paul
No I'm afraid the data panel is down to me  .
The model is mirrored, so any texture appears in all 4 corners........don't think they carried 'LA' stickers under all windows either.
I thought about it, 'ummed and arrhed' then decided to include.
As with most re-skinners we generally do them to please ourselves, if there isn't a download already available.
Then if they turn out reasonable, share them through UKTS with original modellers permission of course.
It would only be a 2 minute job to remove the data panels, if you wanted too.
There maybe a version 2 model appearing, Reg is looking at this ATM.
In the meantime anyone else want to produce any variants go ahead, use any of my work as a basis with pleasure, but gain permission from Reg first.
Cheers
Jon

These loco's did not have headlights in the blue era.
The headcode panel served as the white front marker light.
The two small lights were definately tail lamps.

A headlight in that position would not be powerfull enough to cast any light ahead.
so there would be little point to it.
All locos were required to have two tail lamps in case one of them failed.
Hi Ian
You would think so........ but both the Westerns and Warships (D8xx) had white marker lights on drivers side.

I think this photo shows it off well.

http://www.preserved-diesels.co.uk/2004/1041_18.htm

D1015 had to have a highviz lamp ( incased in the headcode panel) to get its mainline cert.

Cheers
Jon
and also had to have 2 x taillamps to comply with group standards, hence the conversion from white marker to tail light on 1015.

Opps........missed that Chris on D1015.
I also missed the safety orange cantrail stripe  ...........so planning to issue a version 2
Cheers
Jon

Edit
Just checked and I had done both lights as red on the main texture file........but forgot to change the detail texture file.

You can have these if you're interested Jon. The depot sits on the existing track layout to the West of Penzance, wrong place for Long Rock I know but I like it. The North Road office block sits nicely in the car park at the station. The road bridge at Saltash is a re-sized bridge from the library but I think it looks the part. PM me if you could use them.

The Warship is one of Jon's excellent re-works which is in the file library. Dave.

The excellent reskin is Jon's but surely the model itself is Mark Shipman's?

I never said any different Ashley. Presumably Marks credit is in the readme? Do we have to list every credit now when we put up a screenshot? The model is in the library as a re-skin by Jon, I used the word 're-work' because there was far more work involved that just a re-skin, including the automatic gearbox and the engine start/stop features.

Sorry Dave, my misunderstanding - I missed the word "re-work" and just wasn't sure whether it was Mark's originals under discussion or some later model I wasn't aware of.

Hi
Thanks Dave........I've PM'd you my email address.
Long Rock is another great place. :P
Unfortunately P2P trackwork isn't accurate for 60s/70s......... but its still brilliant.
My delves into RE are not good......... but I wanted to shunt Motorails at Newton Abbot and down to the carriage sidings at Goodrington.
There hasn't been any updates to P2P for a couple of years so I'm guessing the route is unfortunately abandoned ?
Cheers

Hi
yes was to believe no further upgrades to this excellent route were to be done as does look outdated even to run hydraulics on of which of like, paddington to hilly and westbury no marshelling yard. And am i to believe they are shots of reskin bats westerns that to much regret have not reappeared.Any futher upgrade to p2p would be much welcome, but understand the work involved.
