Manor Takes shape!

Post by eddief »

Having (finally) completed the 43 and 93XX locos I have now turned my loco building attention to the 78XX Manor Class. These 4-6-0's shared a lot of common parts with the 43XX's (in fact there were some 43XX's used to make the Manors), the first loco chosen is 7822 Foxcote Manor.

I have spent about 1 and a half hours working on the conversion and here is the results.

<IMG width="1004" height="512" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... gress1.JPG">

Outstanding tasks include texturing the front bogie, retexturing the cab front so its windows look like they have glass in them, re-doing a couple of other textures and the fitting of nameplates. As we are only half way through September I am hoping to get the first Manor out before the end of the month. Any comments are welcome (especially from IKB as he is a great source of GWR knowledge).

I would gladly name a loco after Mike/IKB however I intend on saving that for when I do a Castle loco (considering there was 1 called IKB).

That is my thought exactly, will look even better if you get a 43XX or Collet Goods pilot for the Cambrain Coast Express (anyone would think we had been working together on a common dream ;))

Looking good 8)

As Mike also goes under the name of Owain Glyndwr .... maybe a Vale of Rheidol loco would be in order :wink:

I think we had better let Kevin our resident Narrow Gauge builder know about that.

Eddie, the BR smokebox door numbers were in a plain sans-serif font, not the curly GW cabside numberplate font. Ditto the buffer beam numbers if you are going to do a GW period one.

Thanks for that I'll sort that out soon (looks like I'll have to redo some of the textures for the 43XX it seems to have gone on :infinity: so far).

Foxcote Manor is finally named! The nameplates were fitted to the side of the engine this morning and she was then photographed with the nameplate in place. Here are the results: -

There is still a few bits of the transparency that needs sorting but the good news is that it works ok. Next stage is to redo more or less all the textures as she is running in with the 43XX's so she could do with some proper texturing.
