Afternoon stopper from Portsmouth...

Post by jamiebowey87 »

Finnally had a chance to play with DC5! Heres the 12:27 Portsmouth Harbour - Waterloo stopper...

As we prepare to leave a Wessex Class 158 arrives from Cardiff...

A 10 Car Class 442 ascends the bank up to Southsea as we coast down. On the left a South Central 423 is stabled between Coastway duties...

As we prepare to call at Fratton a local from Eastbourne accelerates past us. In the sidings a new Desiro can be spotted...

We get chacked at the triangular junctions east of Coasham to allow a Brighton - Reading 170 to cross our path...

Arriving into Havant a pair of Class 421s have just arrived from Waterloo...

We clatter over the pointwork and level crossing at Havant. The Coastway route to Brighton continues eastwards as we diverge north on the 'direct' line to London via guildford and Woking...

We pass an EWS Class 60 heading south with some Network Rail JNAs...

She cant be warm in that dress...

Celebrity 'Gordon Pettit' is glimpsed at speed from the cab!

A view of our 8 Car train at Godalming, formed of a 4-Vep leading a 4-Bep...

We pass a down stopper as we coast into Farncombe...

Suburban Class 455s indicate were getting closer to London as we pause at Guildford...

Unfortunately a delay of only 3 minutes is enough to loose us our path at the falt junction at Woking...

Another Class 455 arrives bound for Guildford. The buffet car in the 4-Bep can be seen...

We pass WImbledon as a District Line train heads off on its 100+ minute journey to Upminster...

In the gloom of the cuttings south-west of Clapham we pass a 442 making its wat to Weymouth with the 14:00 from Waterloo...

Slack signals mean we have to reduce speed as a Class 455 edges past us!

A busy sceen accross the Yard. A pair of Class 442s is stabled, whilst a single Class 455 heads off towards Kingston in the background...

We arrive at our destination! Thanks to that signal check at Coasham we never regained time, things not being helped by congestion at Surbiton. This once every day sceen at Waterloo is now but history!

Im sure every one will agree what a great job Dave has made of this, definately some of his best work so far! Im amazed at the detail of the Portsmouth area, and with the speed restrictions and gradients well captures on the 'direct line', it was a nice challenge to keep time on my stopper!

And you got from A to B without crashing. To me, that's the biggest challenge of all the Dorset Coast versions. If you can drive from A to B without the route crashing, that's an achievement on the same scale as reaching Everest's summit.

That'll be why its so popular then.

Building one of them Javelin units, that would be a good challenge.

Excellent pics Jamie, I've had a little run around the route and am impressed with extensions, just need to squeeze in some activity writing. Are you going to release that as an act? Slammers always gets my attention!

The textures between Portsmouth Harbour and Havant should really be from London South Coast.

Do you do this all the time?

You say to Desiro5 that he should use LSC instead of LBE. Now you say that you should use these textures!

People can use what they want!

Hello Everyone

Dave Corfield and other people have done a really great job of building my home route and expanding it, I have V5, but I've not had much time to play on it as I'm usually to be found on the 12 " to 1' version belting up and down between Bournemouth and Waterloo doing the catering on board. I said it before and I'll say it again, there's some really talented people who make these fine routes for us to enjoy. Well done to all of you, oh and ignore the pathetic remarks and nit picking.

Regards, Doug

The textures used in LSC should not be the same as in the Portsmouth area.

The ballast comes from different quarries and is not the same colour.

But I bet you don't know what the exact colour should be.
