MSTS - D.I.Y. Splash Screens
This is my first attempt to upload pictures, so apologies if things go wrong.
After reading Hints and Tips on how to produce your own Splash Screens I thought I'd share my results (at least I am pleased with them) with the Forum. I was getting fed up with the default screens and prefer these as an alternative.
Totnes - Ashburton.

Coronation - Settle Carlisle.

Friargate Shed - Burton Derby.
<IMG SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/122109/Derby Friargate.jpg">
Bullied - Toddington (GWR).
<IMG SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/122109/WC Toddington.jpg">
A2 on Forth Bridge - Scottish Central.
<IMG SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/122109/Forth Br.jpg">
Racing out of Euston - Thames Mersey.
<IMG SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/122109/CL40 Thames.jpg">
I haven't seen any others Splash Screens displayed on Screenshots and hope this spurs others to give it a go themselves.

Very nice screens indeed, the one on Ashburton adds alot of atmostphere
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\GUI\screens
NOTE: you must name the screen the same as one of the originals and click yes to overwrite. Also, if you want the Microsoft train simulator logo then try and get this from somehwere(forgot where) and place it somewhere in the image which doesn't overlap the menu buttons (Tutorials, options etc...)
Hope this helps Kirk
Quite simple actually, take a screenshot, load it into TGA tools 2, load it into photoshop or PSP, save the screenshot as a BMP, load the BMP into TGA tools 2, save as an ACE file in this directory:Beetlejuice wrote:Have to say althouh I like them all and am not a great western fan, I do love the first one. How easy are these to make?

There is a good tutorial on steam4me on creating splash screens.

A file link is included to get the MSTS title.

Thats where I read up about it, it does seem a little complicated at first, but once you've achieved the first I found it plain sailing. The Photoshop programme can be downloaded for free on trial.
For the non GWR fans you could try :-
Class 66 - Dorset Coast

Hi Emrhd01
Lovely Screen Shots.
You can put the "Microsoft Train Simulator" anywhere you like on your screen shots, looking at Totnes-Ashburton the wording could go onto the Platform at the lower left or to the left of the picture and that will not hide the lovely picture of the GWR Locomotive, on your class 66 Dorset Coast you have some grass in front of the Station were the wording can go giving you a lovely clear picture of the houses and trees behind the Station.
If you have a Graphics Program such as PSP or Photoshop you can also resize the wording to suit your picture.
Thank you for including the lovely screen shot of the Buttercups and Sheep in GWR Toddington
Regards
Frank

Thanks for the comments Guys, I will certainly take them on board and thanks for GWR Toddington Frank, its up there with the best.
Finally, I thought I'd post these last 2 screens, they show as they appear when loading MSTS, so those who are thinking of having a go, hopefully will.
