If you make a 3D object such as the headlights and texture it the same colour as the background it is on, then from certain angles it will look like it isn't there, which is what JSReeves86 was getting at I think. This is why I always texture the sides of a 3D object a slightly darker shade of the colour your using so that you can always see it is 3D. Otherwise it just looks flat and ruins the '3D-ness' of the object.

Very nice! The similarity to the dutch 66's is noticeable, and is a very good thing!

out of curiosity, what do the 59's do? Are they interchangeable with the 66s or do they stick to their old Yeoman / ARC stomping grounds?

nice comparison there.

the 66 i believe is a JT42-CWR in america wereas a 59 is a JT42

59's have a 3,200 HP engine and the 66's have a 3,300 HP engine although a 59 hold's the record for the longest and Heaviest train in Europe. 66's wouldnt cope with the Whatley-Theale Jumbo train.

another note of useless info is IIRC that a 59 is based on an SD70MAC whereas a 66 is based on a SD70Ace

The 59 is Actually a JT26-CWSS, NOT a JT42CWR (class 66)
The 59 is SD40 based (645 series engine) whereas the 66 uses a 710 series. They sound completely different (bar the horn)and though yes the 66 has more hp, the 59 has a far greater tractive effort, so is actually more powerful. Sorry to be nit picky, I'm just a bit of a 59 nut. :D :D

cheers

well i knew the 59 was somewhat based on one of the best little engines of america.

SD40's and SD40-2's are my favourite.

Not too sure on this one yet Jo, my copy came without cab or sound, so I used "Kenji's" cab and the only available 59 sound files AFAIK
(which are in actual fact SD40-2)
Not quite the proper thing due to the different exhaust systems.

BTW nice to see you here on the forums.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the comments about my 'Daddy Ying'.

59s do have the same engine as a SD40 and the model will come with SD40 sounds.

The MFS auto ballaster train seen in pics I took, over at the DTD forums were also built by me. They are part of E-Rail, (nothing to do with DTD) and will be released soon, as freeware over at the E-Rail website alone with some NR JNA's.

Kind regards
Matthew
