Rowntree Macintosh eh. That explains the use of pastel colours then.

Ahh - that would be the facility now owned by Nestlé that is being / has been shut down with major job losses. No doubt the site will be redeveloped for housing. My daughter is at university in York so I pay attention to local affairs where she is living. The closure of the factory will have negative effects on the local economy.

Great screen shots though Chris.

Kindest regards

Those shots are good, I must say I had no idea the route was going as far as York, definantly worth getting now :)

Wonderful shots Chris. How far past the factory can you get along the Foss Islands Branch? I have always planned to build the branch as my first attempt at route building and have hundreds of photos taken from the cycle path :( I have always regretted never spending any time down there while the branch was operational. Cheers, Dave.

PS Rowntrees had their own fleet of industrial shunters for use within the factory confines, and Class 20s were common on the 'Kit Kat Express' as we used to call it, although 08s were the mainstay.

Well, all the way to Foss Islands and a couple of miles up the DVLR but please bear in mind the route builders quote below.
(Your photos might be of some interest.)

Rivet counters will go unheeded.

Regards,

Chris.

P.S. I had the pleasure of a LCGB trip from Layerthorpe to Cliffe Common and return one Winter around about 1960 with an 04 and two maroon Mk 1s. :D

I am confused over the various versions of Mid East which are now available or will soon be available (steam era and otherwise). Can someone please clarify this?

There is the original Mideast which is patched up to about 1.4 I think, then there is the steam era version of this. Mideast Plus is under construction as we speak as a whole new route.
cheers, Dave.

Thanks. A couple more questions:

Will MidEast Plus be available soon?

Can MidEast Steam Era and MidEast Plus be installed on the same system and exist separately?

I think the usual answer is "It will be ready when its ready" but it is looking fairly advanced to my untrained eye. And yes you can have Mideast Plus on your system alongside Mideast Steam Era without any problems as it is a completely new and seperate route. Cheers, Dave.
