Very nice shots, although the last shots look nothing like paignton and Kingswear in the 30s!

No, they took over in the 50's I think

Thanks for that, I thought it was early 50's, so I wasn't that far off I guess :D I bet it was brilliant living in the steam era, then again my dad said you just didn't think of it like that, it was just like how cars are today

So true, Kirk, I lived in York from the age of 7 through the fifties and sixties where A4s and the like were a common sight on ECML expresses.
We still went to watch them, even if we shouted "scrap it" when 60034 came by each day.
And look what happened: They scrapped it.':('

My Dad did exactly the same, if he wasn't home he'd be at the local station, except they were only fairburns and stopper locos, the odd 8F on a freight to Shelton Steel works. A sad sight to see so many beauties lost :( for all we know most of them could stillbe living on, on our cars :D ah well, thank god for preservation
