Hmmmm, was just browsing the 2006 website and stumbled across this :)

http://files.auran.com/TRS2006/manuals/CMP_Manual_1.pdf

It was actually more of a sneak peek to generate excitement, but you may find it of use :)

It's taken directly from the manual that comes with the Limited Edition DVD.

I have yet to fathom out how to use CMP, as all the manual seems to do is mention all the interfaces but not how to do a download (press which buttons and in which order). I am not alone here, see the UK the UKTrainz forum.

CMP is a very nice idea, but it's hampered by the fact that it's been designed by a techie. NEVER let a techie design a user interface.

As a matter of interest, i am both a Trainz & MSTS user and have had the New TRS2006 version for a week now.
The content manager plus is a bit hard to master but after a spot of practice, i'm sure it'll be a popular feature.
I have also had my first Trainzchat experience today and it's fun to be able to converse directly with another Trainz user whilst operating trains.
Another new feature of 2006 is the iportal which enables users to send consists across the internet to another configured users layout so in effect, you can actually swap Trains.
I've just added an iportal to my latest layout and am planning to experiment with another Trainzer later this evening so i'll be able to report back on how it performed.
Also, there is a definite marked increase in frame rates in 2006 over 2004 and it definitely loads faster.
In All, apart from the Auran servers being overloaded this first week of operation i'm sure 2006 will be a winner.

Cheers

At first i was a bit baffled by CMP but after about the second attempt it sort of grew on me and I now find it really easy to use and quite good too.

When you find what you want in the search boxes, then you drag and drop it into the Trainz helper window and then click start download.

cheers

Well, i'm pleased to report that after an evening of extensive testing by myself and other users, the Trainz i-portal system in TRS2006 works very well indeed.
Sending consists across the ether to other Trainz users is now a reality and of course you can chat to the other users in real time too.
The only thought i had was that if you have more than 1 or 2 chat windows open, then your view of the action is impaired somewhat.
However, you can always close the windows or move them to one side. All in all, a very worthwhile addition to the sim. 9/10 from me.

Cheers

It may be a bit late, but I have written an iPortal Tutorial. Access at http://www.steamtrainz.com/iportal_tutorial/index.php.

If you want to use iPortals with me add atsfrr3000 to your contact list.

I'm also working with a friend to set up the first "virtual railroad" using TRS2006. It's coming out quite fun. :)
