Apart from the fact the number would be on the smokebox door, rather than the bufferbeam, and the lion is facing the wrong way, nice work!

The ferret on a monocycle should always face the front.
If you flip it, make sure you don't reverse the writing.

It's also way too big.

The number on the cabside should be white rather than yellow. Sorry to be picky but I presume you want an accurate reskin. :)

Joseph,

Keep working on it.

Once you have the textures ready, e-mail them to me and I'll update the shape file so you can have the lion to the front on both sides.

he has the lions correct one faces to cab and one faces the smokebox, simple just split the engine in half and put the 2 side facing up you'll understand.

Nope, both should face the front.

The early BR logos should both face forward and their height should be 40% that of the tank sides, according to the photo of 31178 I'm looking at.

You're both right. Early applications of the livery had the lion always facing to the left. Later it was changed so that the lion always faced forward.

I do think the logo is a little big for this loco. It seems from photos that I have that there were several sizes of the logo but I'm afraid I don't have the dimensions.

The first ferret on a monocycle emblem always faced the front on a steam loco or No1 end on twin cab diesels and multi units.
It was not used on coaches.

The 2nd emblem, Ferret with dartboard, originally was made in two versions and was used for about 18 months until the Royal Collage of Heralds pointed out that they had not authorised the left facing version.

Since defying these people was punishable by hanging (and still is), the BR board ordered them to be replaced quickly by the depots.

Off course, the more socialist depots oop north took their time.

No board members were hanged.
