Anyone seen or heard this:
It's got Walschaerts-Gresley valve gear with derived 2:1 motion, sounds convincing and the centre gear and 2:1 gear on the front are animated.
I thought of possibly borrowing the three cylinder sound for various British locos

EEK!

What the heck is that? Some sort of crazy US 4-12-4?

Don't take that to Derby works. They don't do Gresley stuff.

Don't suppose the S&T will like it knocking down the gantries either.

Seriously, I've just downloaded it - and the only route I've got installed just now to test it is......

It's on http://www.train-sim.com

You may have trouble getting in tho.. There's a new route just been uploaded with big files and a stack of rolling stock to go with it.

It's a Union Pacific 4-12-2 three cylinder rigid chassis, longest fixed wheelbase in the US. Limited to 45 m.p.h. introduced in 1926
I believe, because of the rigid chassis it was limited to a paticular route as it would, and did open up the gauge somewhat! My US railway books have been confined to the loft so not sure which route.

I read about this one in a book. Apparently it had a tendancy to streighten curves
Take it easy, take it easy, don't let the sound of your old wheels drive you crazy.

Pulled well on the flat but ran out of puff going over the mountain into San Diego! UP say they put a diesel on for dynamic braking but I'm not convinced that's all it's for.

Hi
Now available on http://www.the-train.de if you have trouble getting in at TS.com

"MSTS Union Pacific 4-12-2 9000: The 4-12-2 wheel arrangement designated the class is the largest non-articulated locomotive built in North America. These were three cylinder locomotives with the center cylinder rod connected to the second drivers. The unique Gresley gear on the front provided the timing for the middle valve gear. The model includes animated center rod and Gresley gear. By Ron Pertuit (CajunRon)."
