This could never be a commercial route, the frame rates are disasterous. Even worse than LSE and SVR. 3-5fps is slide show mode! To get anything decent you have to be right up close to the train, where you cant see so much, which defeats the point of putting all the scenery in.

Id rather have a route I can drive...not watch.

No doubt though it will become the new bench mark in terms of scenery density. "ooo look my new route has 50 million buildings on it, if anyone is to do better they have to have 100 million buildings"
It doesnt work like that.............

No actually Thames-Mersey V4 runs pretty good on my laptop. The game never lagged when I started from Manchester, Liverpool Street or London Euston.

I don't know about v4, because I haven't installed it yet (but am about to), but TM v3 gets much better frame rates than LSE!

Hi
My biggest problem...so far...is the old F4 crash....so I've had to change trains folder from 568 consists to one with only 372....(I've always suffered with this )....but its a good indicator that my msts is creaking

Now I'm getting impressed - I prefer your depiction of Piccadilly Platforms 13 and 14 over mine - the old V3 Canopy looks well on Thames-Mersey 4

The Castlefield Viaducts looke excellent too - and is that the St Pancras canopy peeking over the top masquerading as Manchester Central Station?

Hi All

Of all the Routes I have on my system (over 50) LSE is by far the worst for stuttering and frame rates - I have played around with the settings and I got it stabilised after a lot of trial and error.

I had no major problems with TM V3.2 and I have just finished downloading V4.0 - started this morning and finished tonight (yes I am on Dial Up) so tomorrow I will be installing.

If I get crashes or very poor frame rates etc on my PC I will use RR to make a unique tsectionDAT file for the Route and then Trainstore to store and run it.

Kindest Regards

So what's your point ? Has anyone said this should be commercial ? Has any one mentioned scenary density ? NO!

FPS differs from PC to PC fortunatly I've just invested in a new PC so I get great FPS which does nosedive to "still" good levels... What we have here is a superb freeware route which has received great feedback except ahem.....not surprisingly from you!!!

PS - How's the CTRL coming along

Thanks Steve - praise indeed from a resident Mancunian. :D :D Of course all the viaducts and Piccadilly canopy are your models anyway, so a measure of the positive feedback so far deserves to be sent in your direction.

Yes, St. Pancras as GMEX in the background.

As usual the anti LZ's come out the woodwork. There is no doubt this is a great route, and the efforts of ccsdc can clearly be seen. He has put a hell of alot into this project.

My point is that this is what people expect from EVERY mainline route, commercial or freeware. And this is NOT something MSTS can do well. ccsdc even warns that it may not run well, even if the last version did. You need one steaming PC to get this running at any acceptable rate.

It remains that this will never be a level which Commercial routes will go to because so few people would run it at any decent frame rate. People are moaning in the TrainMaster forum that they fear the new sim will require too high a spec compared to what people have now. Yet in a forum slightly higher up, everyone is crying for more scenery and detail. The two are opposite ends of the scale. More detail but that runs on a low spec machine, and all for £15!

Aint going to happen. Thus the reason TM style routes could only ever be freeware. Even Protrain isnt as good as this.

The trouble is mate, you never said that originally.

Nothing in your first post was anything other than negative. And historically, you are often pretty quick to critisise other peoples work, so if you don't type what you are actually thinking people will assume what they will.
