Almost ready to go gold

Post by meonia »

The Brighton Belle. Full train comprised of 3 times 5 car units, hence at peak times a 15 car train, but usually ran as a 10 car train of two units.

Here is the finished 15 car train heading up to Victoria. It runs really smoothly, the motor physics are superb and it sparks very realistically on the 3rd rail all thanks to a lot of work by JimmyLad. Its great what teamwork can do.

It will be uploaded in the near future once a few details have been ironed out, for example each 5 car unit is 3 megs so shall I upload them individually, as a 3 unit pack, or both? Also possibly do a passenger view and an activity set in the mid sixties. Could be a few weeks yet, but the 5BEL is ready to live again

A fantastic-looking model - well done team!

As for a 1960s activity - go for it. You could KimSim's 2BIL (blue or green), Ian Morgan's 4SUB (maybe someone can do a blue or 'non-celebrity' green repaint), add some blue or green CEPs, VEPs and CIGs (the latter brand-new for the time, of course), the odd electro-diesel and away you go... I can smell the ozone already!

That is stunning, and something that has been missing from the list for a long while, like the 323.

Very nice :).

Small detail though, the 5BEL never ran as a 15 car set, the 3rd set was always kept in reserve at Brighton, the reason was simple, a reserve set allowed a constant 100% service, 2nd there are no platforms that can accept a 15 car train, most if not all are designed for 12 car sets.

I belive there was 4 trips a day, a 10 car up to Victoria, then two seperate 5 car trips back to Brighton at different times and then two 5 cars back to Victoria ( the first one back passing the 2nd from Victoria ) and then the evening 10 car back to Brighton.

Regards

Victoria once could fit 16 car trains. or two 8 car trains in one platform, one set could overtake the other set.

But Brighton couldn't.
