SECR Trains and O1

Post by ahardy »

Hi Guys.

Just a few quick shots of Deapods SECR locos and up and coming SECR O1. Hope you Like the Pics. Also if anyone is interested the route is a fictional route im making South Eastern Branch Line. A short branch with southern flavour, only been two days. Thoughts? The first image was after an hour or so last night, all track ( UK Finescale ) and some buildings in place. The other two are after a bit more work today.

As the route seems more 'WIP' than the 01, I guess the loco will need beta testing first. Decapod, the coal looks similar to the Terriers. Is it animated too?

Couple of points on the route building. First off as your first attempt and after just a few hours work that is excellent.

However it's quite rare for a goods shed road to run directly off the main loop at a terminus so close to the platforms and usually the goods shed would be tucked away alongside the back of the platform to reduce the width of the station site. It's quite rare to see two platforms at a small country terminus - try grabbing a Southern station plans book to get the feel for how they laid out their stations.

Have you tried downloading the fence sections from the Highworth site that Paul made which pivot at the end rather than the Kuju ones that pivot in the middle - you'll find these much easier and quicker to place and get level on the ground (don't sink them down so the bottom bar of the fence touches the ground, that does not look right at all).

Thirdly the coal bunkers you've placed would be used by a coal merchant in the goods sidings and this type were never used as coaling stages for locomotives. Again there's a basic timber coaling dock on the Highworth site that is a pick-up. And watch your fence placement, one seems to have run through the coal bunkers.

But on the whole it's looking very nice.

Hi Guys.

Dont know what Decapod will do about testing, I have run it for a couple of days and it looks good. I am also unsure as to a release date.

Saddletank.

Your right about the goodshed being in an odd position in the loop. It dosnt tuck behind the station as there will be something there later. I have been thinking of removing one platform but unsure about scenery for that area. Evrything is backed up so I will just play and if it goes wrong oh well. The coal bins were only temporary to see what things look like. Fencing was done with the autogantry thingy. Have usd Pauls hedges and I think I will re-do the fencing with his stuff aswell to improve looks.

I will upload some more pics soon.

Fantastic work. Where did you get the factory building from in the 3rd pic?

Andy - you didn't use my beta SECR wagons? ;)

The O1 is now complete and tested. I have added a crew & a few custom sounds and made some final corrections.
I may wait till I have the Southern livery O1 finished - it's almost there.
I also have 3 wagons with various loads completed and a brake van under construction so I may wait and release the lot in one hit.

Matt - all my tender locos (UK and Oz) have animated coal, and 99% of my locos use the same coal texture (which I think I "borrowed" from Ian Morgan) :)

Decapod

Southern O1....that would look good on here. Have not actually looked at the wagons yet as I have been so into working on the route. I will do, i will upload some more photos tonight with them hehe. Just imagine Southern O1 and Birdcage stock.....

Saddletank

the factory I downloaded a while ago from train-sim. com. Its by a german model maker I think. Great model, If i decide to release the route Ill have to try and get in touch. I have just implemented your suggestion, removed a platform and it looks great. Needs a few more plants.

Anyone know where I can get some decent ground plants, weeds etc. im using photo realistic trees and they are just great.

Any chance you could let me know the file name for that factory please?

There are some weeds by Jim Ward (aka Sniper197) on Train-sim.com. The download allows placement by forest object or individually. Lots of good vegetation on T-S.com, just avoid the palm trees and cactii!

Saddletank. I will have a look for the file name in a min and let you know. My mum is nagging me to do some homework. (A levels and trumpet practise). Off the top of my head I think its a heating house, maybe if you search that you will find it.

Neway here are some more pics.

What you think of the new station. New building and deleted a platform.
